Hell Night

I'm doing fine now but this afternoon was hell too. Just besides myself I was. It came close for me to go out and buy a pack, but the main thing is I didn't. I didn't cave in which is a wonder. Betty my friend told me that it does get easier after the first week. I sure hope she's right. I'm doing good now and can breathe again. I don't have that nagging pain in my stomach that says have one. Talk to you all later. Gin Healer is right, use this site to your advantage. It will function as a distraction and also as a way for you to more throughly understand the nature of the addiction and where you are at the moment. My heart goes out to you, everybody's quit is different, but there is enough commonality in the process that everyone here can relate to you discomfort. Just keep in mind that you are not alone and that you can do this. You just need to hang on in the hard times and let it all go when things ease up on you. One thing is for certain. You have made a decision that you will never regret and that in itself is a rare opportunity in this life. Stay well, there are many people here wishing you well... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 338 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,140 Amount Saved: $3,549.00 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 18 Mins: 13 Seconds: 27

Hi Gin, Always hold on really tight to yourself when those tough times come and spend time here ~ reading old posts... There is so much info here that kept me focused and grounded in my quit in tough times ~ and you can find the same energy, guidance and love right here. You can do this... in the challenging times, do what you love... a walk - a good book, go out to a movie with a friend, call a friend... Find a distraction ~ and keep a pocketful of distractions on hand at all times. They work wonders! I painted walls, cleaned the bathroom with spray bleach cleaner and an old toothbrush, anything that takes you away will do! Blessings sent!! Gin there is a member here by the name of Rusty, she is a big believer in journaling. You are going though some very intense withdrawal. Write about it. Keep these memories alive in a journal so when the junkie thinking comes around and it will read that journal. As a repeater I can tell you this is all waiting for you again if you smoke and quit again. You have come though some really intense days and you are still alive ;p . Keep up the good work. So proud of you!! Now go get yourself something nice, you have earned it. HI Gin, Now you know why folks around here call it Hell Week. It is you body trying to heal itself, and the psycological triggers to smoke are very strong at this time. But, the good news is, YOU are stronger..you are stronger than you think. Smoking is a decision..as long as you decide NOT to light that next cigarette, you will be one day closer to never feeling this way again. That is great you have a friend that you can call. Keep going, it is worth it. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 186 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,464 Amount Saved: $930.00 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 15 Mins: 58 Seconds: 56

Gin, that first 10 days was a killer for me and John too. We were very snippy with each other, had to get all new coping mechanisms you know? 7 days rocks!! Did you reward yourself? If not, you need to!! I love sour jelly bellies and Bean Pod Grandma's Kitchen Soy candles found at my local Hallmark. One time me and John bought $20 worth of sour jelly bellies!! That is still less than a carton of smokes. You are doing great Gin, pat yourself on the back, reward yourself, and take the time to notice the postive aspects of your quit. You can do it, Gin. It's just the junkie having a tantrum because she's starting to realize you mean it. Hope won't get you through it, though. YOU will get you through it. Get your coping strategies going, get out your reasons, write in your journal. Try a bath, that always worked for me. Whatever you've found has worked up till now will work again. Hang in, the only way to stop the cravings is to not give in to them. You know that, and you know they will pass. Hi everybody I am going through the worse craving of all this time and I'm on my 7th day. I hope it eases up soon. I phoned my friend Betty who quit for 20 years and smoke 3 packs a day. She's a Godsend. And so is this group. It was real good today, sailing along just fine and then bang! It hit me like a ton of bricks. This is quite the addiction. I hope to pull through the other side ok. It's really hard right now.
