And Doodles I just got back from an errand and hadn't time to finish this. It's natural to want to smoke at this stage however I think you are letting yourself dwell too much. Craves and thoughtd will happen however you deal with them and don't let them get the upper hand. You get busy and don't dwell find other thoughts to fill your mind, distractions remember. It is about getting to the point where you forget about smoking and we all can do this. Let the thoughts bounce off you, don't absorb them. I use to light up when I was bored, it does not help and it's not a solution. Remember we are dealing with a habit that must be broken. That's the key. Find a way to break the habit. Btw, I seem to only think about smoking when I think about people here trying to quit. I think back and try to position myself into what a person is going through. And when I'm remembering me as a smoker, I honestly can say there is absolutely no desire for a puff. Why? It is bad for you, there is no such thing as one, trying to break the habit is difficult and unpleasant, been there and done that, takes my cash and lastly I have no need for them. Smokes add no value to my existence, they in fact do the opposite, hinder my existence. Got to work the weights now and take my hike! The good life and we have but one! I am telling you this because you can be happy without smoking and YOU can and are able to forget about smoking. There is an end to it Doodles, you are nearing 100 and to be beach to join Sullydog. Now show us all what you are made of! Hi Doodles, Now come on! You know you have the ability to quit else we wouldn't be chatting like this. If you are bored get into a book. If you are stressed go take a nice long walk or hot shower, relax yourself, use your distractions. Hey you know Sparky right? Well she is on the other side now and you need to get there as well. Don't smoke, just get that mind busy. It will pass. All the luck and God grace coming your way. We want you healthy Doodles! BTW, if it means anything to you, I am proud of what you have accomplished! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 664 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,952 Amount Saved: $3,652.00 Life Gained: Days: 121 Hrs: 2 Mins: 52 Seconds: 44

And what I omitted from the original post: These are distractions that keep your mind curious, challenged, and so importantly away from the thoughts of smoking. Reverse the trend and set yourself up with a non-smoking pattern. Smoking is something that was once us and now we make the transition. Bear in mind that, that one smoke that you may be thinking about lightning up, just very well may be the smoke that will last an entire life time. There is no question that you can not quit however a question of WILL you quit and will you stay quit. Well the short answer is I promise that I will not have a cigarette today and I have my days distraction list to make sure that I keep this promise. I do know if I make it through today and just today, I will wake tomorrow with renewed vigor and confidence; then perhaps, lets do another day. Change your daily routine such as shower after breakfast rather than before, take a different route for the walk, talk on the phone in some other room; anything easy and reasonable that will change your pattern of activities.
