when will the craveings stop, will they go on forever !!!

when you have a craving, what do you think about?? do you let yourself dwell on what you think you are "missing".....in your mind, do you romanticize your smoking past?? Do you "entertain" the junky thoughts??? If you do, you are letting that junky play in your head....and when you allow that, he tries to take over....the thinking is his way of sliding in and trying to take control. fight back. Realize that by not smoking YOU stay in control.....do you want that addiction to rule your life??? of course not!! Tell yourself so! Give the thoughts the boot! Kick them!! slam the door on them!!! Empower yourself with thoughts of being in CONTROL! Then take yourself and get some kind of a treat! A reward for NOT letting the junky take over your head! Face him and BEAT him! He won't let you be till he sees that you have sealed all the cracks and he can NOT get in. Cigarettes Not Smoked

100 days and counting. Sit back and realize what you just accomplished and how good it feels. Take in today, don't think about future milestones. When you feel good about today, then today becomes tomorrow and tomorrow becomes forever without the bad thoughts. Keep the good feelings alive and remember the feelings of accomplishments. I just read your post and am puzzled. I am going to have to agree with Penitent on this one. Every once in a while I will kind of want a cigarette and then I come to my senses and realize that I feel sooooooo much better now, I don't WANT to go back. Maybe you should focus (or maybe write out a list) of the pros of NOT smoking. Then write the pros of smoking... I think you should post them on here! Maybe that would help us know where you are at and what you are really thinking/feeling, then we can answer this question better. It is easy to see things from the outside looking in! That is great that you have made it to 100 days! REJOICE!!! thankyou everyone for the advice,im glad im not the only one feeling like this, today has been a good day so far and i know i will have to work with the bad days. I think i have to tell myself more about the positive side of giveing up and that is not being breathless when running upstairs, i also have more energy and my skin looks so much nicer family and friends have noticed this as well. maybe i was looking for on and of switch that would be so easy wouldnt it,also i think i did get bored with the quit and i remember before i got to the ship (50days) i kept thinking wish i could just get past 50 then when i got there i just wanted to be at 100 days so now i will just take it day by day,so im kicking my flipflps of and running down the beach to the sea :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 101 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,020 Amount Saved: 515.10 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 3 Mins: 53 Seconds: 43

Wow!! I'm sorry that you are finding it tough after 100 and 136 days and I'm really not sure what to advise. Perhaps you are looking for something as final as an on/off switch to trigger at a particular point in your quit. Unfortunately it's not like that and the threat is always there, you just have to learn to live with it, rise above it and in time you will master being quit without wanting to smoke every day. Alternatively, you could visit your doctor to discuss why you continue to feel like this. Whichever, good luck and congratulations on being smoke free for 100 and 136 days. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,400 Amount Saved: 5,600.00 Life Gained: Days: 179 Hrs: 22 Mins: 11 Seconds: 40

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I surely hope they don't go on forever. I thought I was alone in being so far into a quit and still having cravings, having them every day and still having all the other symptoms too. All I can do is maintain and hope that it does go away, someday. I just wanted to say it is not unusual and it will pass. I haven't thus far seen any miracle happen. I am at 141 days and it is better than 100 days....but I still have my times. I think it gets better gradually. We just don't see it as it is so slow. As I now look back I can see I have improved. Funny you should write this as I am having a hard time today. Outta now where. I do recall a real hard time at 100 days. Then is passed and most days were pretty easy. I don't know where today came from other than I have had a sad thing happen yesterday. Hang in there. I am....so hang in there with me. I don't want to do a do over. By the way....WELCOME TO THE BEACH!!!!! WHEW THAT BIKINNI..YOU LOOK GOOD GIRL. mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 141 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,820 Amount Saved: $630.27 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 14 Mins: 29 Seconds: 43

Iwant Do you think it may have something to do with reaching that 100 day milestone? Maybe an association with rewarding yourself with a cigarette for accomplishing something momentous? I know I and some others have had this happen. I found that just being aware of it helped, as did giving myself a better reward. if you think this might be it and can't think of a reward, I bumped up Free and Low Cost Rewards. Big Congratulations on the 100 days!!!!!!
