Tryagain, Like you said you did it once you CAN do it again. You really need to get off the gum you are just feeding your habit change as soon as possible to regular gum, and again I am so sorry for your lost. N.O.P.E. I still have not smoked, but the cravings are still there. I was just about off the gum, but went back to deal with this. I had just about transitioned to all regular chewing gum. I did it once, I can do it again. I am so weak when it comes to this. You've been doing wonderful Tryagain. Just think 9 months and going on to a life time free from the addictions. It is a very good thing! I am sorry about your loss. Your boy or girl is in heaven and there he waits for you, just as my boys and girls wait for me. I loved them so much Furby, Chatter, Scotter, Smokey, Junior... I thought I read that you had three other pets. Show them extra affection and they will help ease your loss as you will help them as well. BTW, I don't know if you smoke inside the house however smoke is not good for them as well. This is reason enough for you to stay smoke free. I agree with unhooked about that - I had a similar experience when our family lost someone back in August in tragic circumstances - suddenly it felt like the craves took a nose dive but I've come to realise this is actually an emotional state I've gone into - and in the past in extreme emotional stress I have always turned to a smoke - this time I didn't but it's like as long as the emotional stress continues the desire to smoke is heightened - this is temporary though and it's important to remember that and that smoking will not change the difficult time you are going through - in fact it will make you feel awful - on top of what you are already having to deal with. I really feel for you in losing such a close companion - 19 years is a long time. Tryagain, it was 14 days ago that your beloved companion passed. That is not a crave, craves last 14 seconds, maybe 14 minutes if you let it & you're on day 1. But 14 days? No. The junkie is grasping at any straw she can to make you stick a cigarette in your face and light it. She wouldn't be able to take advantage of you like this if you weren't still feeding her. She would be at least weak and mostly dormant, trying the odd trick to get her way but almost laughable by now, if you had given up the gum. Doesn't it piss you off, tryagain, that you are not free to grieve and mourn your best friend of 19 years without your thoughts of him being polluted by thoughts of smoking, of getting a fix? It pisses me off for you and it also saddens me for you. Get off the gum, tryagain. You are stuck in a horrible limbo until you do, and there is no other answer. The craving is already gone - you just have to let it pass. Hang tough! My thoughts are with you Tryagain. I know how difficult it is to lose an old friend. Thinking of you and hoping that you hang in there and that you feel better soon. It's kinda like losing a person I know. There's a web site Rainbow Bridge it'l make you feel better. There are so many kitten and cats at rescue sites and shelters that need homes. A new one will never replace the one you lost but it would sure be doing a favor to some poor purrbaby who may be put to sleep if you didn't help. Think of all the distractions getting new litterbox ready and bed and toys and building a cat tower or whatever. Think of the purring on your lap again. Wow you're almost to year don't blow it all away. Cut back the gum set a quit for that and get a new kitty. I can't believe the gum would end cravings at this point.
