How Do I Know?

Hi Everyone. Thank you all so much for replying to my post. Just thought I would share something with you all that has helped me the last few days. I read that all the chest pain that I have been feeling could very well be muscular. Read up on this a little and read a post on another site that some one was having the same problems & would soak in a hot bathtub with epsom salts. Of course at this point I am willing to try anything that might help & tried it for the first time Sunday and again last night & so far this morning very few chest pains. The few that I have had are nothing compared to what they were. I feel so relaxed. Not just my chest, but my whole body. If any one else thinks that their pain could possibly be muscular I would highly recommend that you try this.

You are not alone. I have had 7 ER visits, 7ekg's, 2 x-rays, an ekco, and the blood enzyme tests. Nothing has shown up and I still have that chest pain. Along the left side of my breast or the top of my breast and sometimes a cramp right in the middle. It's so hard to do and I am struggling with it as well but we have to trust the doctors. Your post sounds like what I have been telling my husband...that I keep thinking the doctors have missed something. We all have to remember that anxiety and panic are REAL and what we feel is REAL but we are not dying and we will get through this...together we will get through this. I will be praying for you!!:)

I also have this symptom and I was recently told that I have esophigial errosion due to excessive stomach acid eating away the lining of my esophogus. I thought it was a heart problem too. It doesnt feel like a stomach thing at all. Endoscopy (a hair thin tube down your throat with a tiny camera on the end) can tell you for sure if there is any errosion. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorders 12 years ago and my theory is that my constant worry has definatly made this an issue. I currenly take Prilosec but I have heard that Nexium is better and plan on switching. I also add that the Prilosec does help with my anxiety too, in the way that my stomach is more "settled" feeling.

Andrea, I could say get a snack and get comfortable because I am about to go on and on about chest pains! But, I'll try to keep it short. Been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt! Chest pains are my primamry anxiety symptom. I have to go back and remember who gave me the great advice on this board, but someone suggested I read up on Costo Chondritis (sp?). It's a type of chest wall pain that manifests usually in the left side, sometimes right and is typically noted to vary in location like yours and be painful when you toch the area it came from (is it that way for you?). In reagrd to th Dr.'s, trust them. Easier said then done for me as well. I went through nearly two months of constant chest pain recently. 5 Dr.'s, 3 EKG's, 2 chest x-rays, and a blood test later and I was still convinced I was going to have a heart attack. Saw my regular Dr. who put me on Lexapro and gave me a full physical. Realizig I wouldn't let go of the heart attack idea, shesent me to a Cardiologist. A stress test later and the Cardiologist told me it defintely was not my heart. Dr. also gave me Vioxx to relieve the nflamation that was causing the chest wall pain. Long story short, 2 months of pain, worry, and anxiety have faded away. Been symptom free for over a week. No panic, no noticeable anxiety. All from finally working with and trusting my Dr. Trust what they are telling you and ask your Dr. if medication might be right for you. If you use them, cut back on caffeine and nicotine as well as take some walks. All help reduce anxiety. Keep us posted, you'll be just fine!

Andrea, I apologize for the delay in response. There are many things you can do. Take our Panic Test and bring the results to the doctor. This will better assess your situation. Please continue to tell your doctor of your symptoms, you body may be telling you something. Tell a look at the past posts and threads form other individuals. You will see that many individulas are in the same situation as you. These symptoms most often do belong with your Panic. Trying relaxation techniques, being anything you find relaxing. A TV program ,a book, warm bath or some yoga. This may lessen the symptoms and they will not be so intense. Most of all browse around the site. There is plenty of useful information at your finger tips. Our Panic Program has been deemed very effective and useful, by many of our members. I hope I was able to help, and please continue posting with us. Don't be scared, we are always here, Josie

I was diagnosed with panic/anxiety in June. Since then it seems that I have constant chest pain. I have had the regular tests done to rule out anything with my heart & everything came back normal. In the back of my mind I can't help but think that the doctors might have missed something because of all the chest pain I continue to have. My question is how do I know if the chest pain is from panic/anxiety or from something to do with my heart? Please somebody reply because I am so scared right now. I have this constant fear that I am going to die because of my heart. Sometimes the pain is in the middle & sometimes it is on the far left side under my breast and sometimes it seems to be above my breast, but always on the left side. My back seems to hurt some too. Sometimes the pain is a dull ache & sometimes it comes as sharp pains. Does this sound familiar to anyone. Some one please help! I am soooo scared.
