I hear that the tedious task of cracking open and eating sunflowerseeds helps. I also hear fruit helps curb the craving. quig, Get out of that store! You can do this and it shows with 22 days under your belt! Go for a walk or run, do some chores, write a book, do some stretches :) Get busy and let those craves dwindle away. You can do this and we are here to hold you hand :) Josie, Support Specialist

Quig, you're doing great with 22 days, keep hanging in. The craves will pass only if you continue to beat them. Ingesting any kind of nicotine at all only feeds the junkie & makes him stronger. Like our buddies have already said, get out your coping strategies, go back to one minute a time if you have to, & stay close. Take my hand, flip the junkie the bird with your other one, & now you can't light up or get the can open! We're with you , we know you can do it! Quiqnov Sorry to hear you are having difficulty right now. This is all so very normal. The Junkie is very good at trying to trick us into believing all kinds of crazy things. I think, though, that you know that this is exactly what is happening. Ingesting nicotine (in any form) just means that you will have to start again. It will not help!!! There are a few posts you should read - one called "Junkie Thinking", and another called "This is why you think about Smoking." Do lots of reading, and lots of distracting. You did right to post. There will be more quitters coming along to help...Stay close to us. You are doing great!!!! Congratulations on 22 days. Quig, This is all part of the quitting process. Smoking (or chewing) would only put nicotine back into your system and have you starting all over again. Just think about repeating Hell week and that should detour you. You are very early in your quit. We smoked for many years and did God alone knows how much damage to our bodies and our minds. Unfortunately we don't get over that over night. It takes a little time. Take some deep breaths, drink a cold glass of ice water, and go get a reward for yourself to celebrate those 22 Awesome days quit you have! You are doing great. You can only take one step at a time. That is how we all get there. Yesterday my cravings returned pretty strong, and today even stronger. I feel like it is getting soooo hard to resist the cravings. I went into the gas station this morning, and there, behind the counter, were not JUST cigarettes. For some reason my mind's eye has begun staring down the chewing tobacco. I think that maybe my junkie mind is trying to tell me that chewing tobacco will be acceptable.. just once or twice to curb my cigarette cravings, because at least I will not be smoking. Of course I know, right now, that this is absurd, but a sick, sick part of me wants to buy some!!! I can't wait for when the cravings drop substantially and I can get this out of my life. Thank you for listening.... -Quignov My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 308 Amount Saved: $61.60 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 19 Mins: 12 Seconds: 22
