You may find some help from deep breathing exercises when this occurs.
Learning how to do deep breathing exercises is very important. Not only does it keep your blood well-oxygenated, it helps to clear your thinking too, thereby reducing stress. Surprisingly, many of us have a hard time doing breathing exercies correctly and do not fill thier lungs to their full capacity. It does however get easier with practice.
-you can sit, lie or stand, keep your back straight
-keep one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen
-visualize your lungs filling with air as you inhale, you should feel your shoulders move up as your chest rises and fills with air
-exhale through your mouth by blowing gently
-remember to keep your facial muscles relaxed

You are NOT alone. I do that a lot and it is so annoying! Sometimes my mind will escalate it in to thinking something IS wrong. I am still trying to manage it, but, when that happens I try to do something fun or intense that pulls my attention away from breathing. For example I might play Madden 2004 or I might read a book...both have worked effectively. I am trying to have a list of things to do in that situation.
some times i find myself holding my breath i wont realize i
have been doing it untill i start to feel like my chest is going to
cave in other times i end up paying to much attention to my
breathing and it will feel like the most complicated thing in
the world does anyone else every do this?
