Hi. I am new here. I was diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder about 10 years ago. I was placed on 20mg Paxil and everything went back to normal. However, I recently had a set back after pushing myself on a tough vacation (went hiking in Peru.) My doctor said that this can happen, and upped my dosage to 30mg Paxil 3 weeks ago. I have recently become dizzy all the time, and now I can't stop obsessing how I feel- ALL the time. I am not sure whether I am just Pooped out on Paxil, or just having a reaction to the higher dose. Are there any other effective SSRI's out there for panic and depression? And how do I stop obsessing over how I am feeling? Debbie
Thanks for the welcome, advice and support Josie. I'll have a
look at the panic program. I'm due to go back to the doctor
next week so i'll mention the symptoms. I know that it can
take several weeks for the Seroxat to 'kick in' and i look
forward to that.

SaffyG,
Welcome!
Have you spoken to your doctor about your medications. The doctor will be able to advise you further regarding your meds and the effects they may have.
Try our Panic Program, many of our members have raved about it's success.
Most importantly, keep posting with our online support group. These individuals are very supportive and helpful.

Hi I have just joined the group. I started a week ago on 20mg
Seroxat (the UK version of Paxil) and Diazepam for if I get
severe anxiety symptoms. I am trying not to use the
Diazepam as it makes me feel more nauseous which I'm
feeling anyway with the Seroxat. I'm getting tension
headaches and neck pain. I'm also sleeping for about 9
hours and feeling a bit weird - spaced out. Is this usual?

Sparky,
Don't be nervous. Your visit may take a little longer than you expect, perhaps an hour or so. He will want to make sure he has all the facts, symptoms, ideas, etc.
Give your doctor the anxiety test and let him know about the site and the online support group. If you are feeling apprehensive or nervous, then write down your questions and hand them to the doctor. Your first visit is a good initial bonding.
Take your time to browse the site, when you feel comfortable, you can then reply to other's messages. Our online support group is very supportive and knowledgeable. We are all here to help and listen.
Hope this helps,
Josie

Sparky,
The test on the site is designed by a doctor. Your doctor may have questions or tests for you as well. The site test will help the doctor better assess your situation.
It is wonderful that you are asking questions. An informed mind is an excellent tool to have.
Let us know how it goes, we are here for you,
Josie
sorry for all the questions, but i just need to ask so i know what to expect.
does the doctor have a test like the one on this site that he goes by or does he do it on his own personal judgement??
glad to hear that things are looking up for you Katie :)
Hi, Mark. Don't worry about what to say to the doctor. Your doctor will know exactly what you are going through and will be asking most of the questions anyway. Panic Disorder is not unusual. Doctors come across PD every day. Your doctor won't find any of your questions strange. They are used to all kinds of questions. Please don't worry. Just go and let things take their course. You'll probably be there about an hour or so the 1st time. I wish you lots of luck. Believe me, the doctor will know exactly what to do. The 1st time's always the hardest because you don't know what to expect. It will get easier in time. I promise!
Katie
hi again, thanks for the earlier replies
i just have a few more questions about the doctor that i hope you's don't mind me asking.
1 - how long can i expect to be in with the doctor on the first visit?? i know it might depend on a lot of things but something just to give me an idea of what to expect
2 - would it be acceptable to just go in and ask to be checked out for possible anxiety?? i have made a print out of the anxiety test but still trying to think of how to start the conversation??
3 - This is a great site full of info and the print out of the anxiety test gives alot of info but are there any other sites that give as good results as this site. The other sites i have found normaly just give a percentage rating and not much if any detail
Thanks again
Mark
p.s i would realy like to reply to the other msg's but dont have much info or advice to give,i just don't want to seem like i am taking and giving nothing back :)
