Small slices of sleep

Hi there Vince, As far as I know Narcolepsy is triggered by excitement and sufferers are still conscious when they're 'asleep'. The body becomes paralyzed, the same way it does when we dream. It does this so we don't get up and do all the things we're doing in our dreams. Unless there's another form of Narcolepsy I'm unaware of I'd doubt it's that. Get this checked out all the same. I have moments when I'm not sure what's just happened. That's part of my anxious thought process. I get paranoid that I've just done something dangerous when I know logically that I haven't. Then I get worked up and convince myself that I've done whatever it is I fear at the time to the point where I'm confused as anything and so begins a panic attack. So this might be the case for you too. Riding on public transport is terrifying for a lot of panic sufferers. The monotony of a train ride can cause even non panic sufferers to have little mini naps without even realizing it's happened. This is completely normal and safe, so long as you're not driving a car of course heh. Having little naps while on the train with panic disorder would be pretty weird. There's a name for those little mini sleeps I can't remember it, but it is very common and very normal. So this could be all it is. Like I said, get it checked out all the same. Take care.

I find I experience minor episodes on the commuter train I take here in DC. I have a momentary flicker like I'm falling asleep or just that my consciousness has been disconnected for a moment, followed by snapping wide awake and the onset of symptoms. I do not believe narcolepsy is factoring into my experiences, but I can't rule out anything yet. I'm still waiting for the Laxipro to kick in (five days into treatment), although the Xanax is working to reel in my tension.
