Charlotte101, I've been on 40mg prozac for about 3 years now. I was on paxil for a while, but it just didn't work for me. I started having break through attacks a few months ago, so my dr increased my dosage to 60mg. I started having really bad side effects, so now I'm back to 40 and .5 klonopin. I've only been on the klonopin for a few days now, so I haven't been able to tell much of a difference yet. It takes prozac a while to get in your system, probably a few weeks. Give it time to work and keep in touch with your Dr. I'll be struggling with your same situation in August when I move to a new city where I don't know anyone. This website has really helped. Also, look for local support groups in Charlotte. That's what I'm planning on doing when I get to Nashville. Good luck and keep in touch. Katie

Thanks for getting back to me, Katie. . .what meds are you on and how long did they take to kick in??? Any ideas on how to get over this setback? I used to be able to just deal with the "feeling faint" syndrome, knowing I would not, but after actually passing out today, I am sooo afraid I will do so in every situation. Has anyone actually "fainted" like I did or could it have just been a "vasovagal" response to the sight of blood. Any ideas???

Hello to both of you. It sounds like you both haven't found the right level of meds yet. It takes a while for you and your doctor to find just the right doses. Keep in touch with your doctors and let them know what's happening. For CharlotteNC, I'm from Greensboro! Maybe there were other factors while you were at the vet. Did you maybe not eat enough that morning? It's understandable for anyone to not want to watch what the vet's doing to your pet. I had the same reaction when my brother and I took my cat to the after hours vet several years ago. Have you tried the Panic Program on this website? I just started it yesterday, but it may give you some insight. Good luck. Katie

Hello. . .I feel for your situation. I just moved to Charlotte NC and have suffered worse panic attacks than ever before. I actually passed out this morning in the Vet's office while taking my cat in for a check up. They went to take blood from his jugular vein and I completely passed out and vomitted. I always feel dizzy and "lightheaded" during panic but have never passed out. It was so scary and now I fear that I will actually pass out again if I panic like I usually do. I was just started on Prozac 20-mg a few days ago. I have always been a high functioning professional career person and feel my life is taking a turn for the worse. Any ideas???

panic attacks are not a new thing for me. ive been having a pretty bad time of it for the past 3 years. actually ive had them for the past 30 years off and on. here lately its been a nightmare. i started having them every early morning but yesterday afternoon was a dozzy. i know your heart beat, blood pressure go way up and your heart pounds but is it normal for your heart to palpatate and do screwy things? i was scared to death. i take clonaxepam .5 mg at night time and half that in the morning. it didnt even touch it. when i went to bed it was still acting up so i took my meds and went to bed. it did finally subside only to return this morning. i tried to get ahold of my dr. but hes gone til next wk. said they would try to help me out with redoind my meds so that i would have an even dose but never called me back. any advice? sorry this is so long of a post thank you
