Understanding panic

Wow, Kathy, you sound just like me. Let's just say my stomach and I have never had the best of relationships. The first thing I do when I go someplace new is look for the bathroom. I'm glad to know someone else has these same fears. I threw up in class in 8th grade. I've never really gotten over that in my mind. I always felt like less of a person because I was old enough to control myself but didn't. I'm 35 now and still feel self-conscious about that part of my past. It seems silly to keep looking back on that moment, but it shaped who I am today. I'm not really sure how to get rid of this fear of embarassment. Good luck!

I feel the same way I live off of pepto Bismol I find it the only way to at lest slow it down. At first I had no idea that my panic attacks were causing my nasty stomach right now I just don't know if I am ready to see/speak to a doctor. The last time I seen a therapist or a doctor I was 16 I am now 23 they just didn€™t seem to know what they were doing and it frightened me more then I can express.

HI Rose & Polly, Thanks for the responses about my symptoms of anxiety. I am getting some flax seed oil today and will start slowly like you recommended and see if that helps any. I also am working my way through the Panic Workbook and doing deep breathing exercises everyday. It's helpful to know that if we continue to work on this that it does eventually get better. Thanks again for all your support! kathy

I have the stomach problem too. I take flax seed oil to control my problem. Start with a teaspoon a day and work up to 2 tablespoons a day. I also carry gas-x with me..when I'm out and feel nervous I take one and it even helps calm me down.

Yes Kathy I have suffered so bad with panic...thought I was having a heart attack, constantly going to the bathroom and thinking any minute I would have another attack...so I did. I had told my mind what was going to happen and it did. I have been under a doctor's care and taking med's for a few month's now and believe it you can get better. It takes a lot of work however and relief isn't instant. I still have occasional panic attacks but not nearly as bad and I have learned how to get past them and still be out in the "world". You definitely are not alone! Rose

Hi, Just wondering if anyone is suffering from the same problem that I am dealing with currently. I have a panic disorder and am having a hard time making it through the day without an attack. I also have what has always been called a "nervous stomach".....which sends me running to the bathroom whenever I feel panicky. The problem is that it's quickly getting to the point where I"m becoming nervous to go out in public for fear that I won't be able to find a bathroom in time. I don't want to become to the point where I can't leave my house but I don't know what else to do. Does anyone else have this problem???? Help!!!! kathy :8o:
