Mind if I whine??

Todash, Excellent point. I find myself saying I deserve a break and there is no reason to not take one. It is hard at first....but just like ther rest of the things we relearn we need to relearn how to relax too. Windy: Yes... they stepped outside to smoke....but let's not forget they came inside and "stunk" Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 174 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,480 Amount Saved: $777.78 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 21 Mins: 18 Seconds: 55

I don't know about anyone else, but I find that the 'step outside' part of smoking is the thing I miss, not the smoking itself. If you're strong in your quit and you know you'll not smoke again, why not go out with your colleagues, stand upwind, get some sunshine and a decent conversation? They're not lepers, they're smokers. You're not. I just think sometimes it seems we punish ourselves by removing the break we were used to - it doesn't always have to include a cigarette! x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 194 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,462 Amount Saved: 1,067.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 4 Mins: 5 Seconds: 41

Windy, you know you are almost a year smoke free!! Wow. That is so awesome. I can't wait to be there. You must feel so good. I was thinking about your post and wondering if it wasn't time for a wee reward? Maybe the new HP book or movie? don't know if you are into Harry Potter. I simply can't wait for either. I got real stressed like that today at work and had to leave my office, go off by myself, talk to myself for a bit until I got over it. I filed for about an hour. I hate filing. As I was coming back to my office I saw some of my former smoke buddies outside and my only thought was man I bet it is hot outside and they are going to stink when they come back in. If you are going to have more of these type meetings where you think it might be a problem, bring a treat for you when they go out, some nice chocolate, some thing extra - cashews? I am excited for you and can't wait to be where you are :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 690 Amount Saved: $120.75 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 15 Mins: 14 Seconds: 51

Windy, (((HUGS))). Sorry things are rough for you :( You know smoking is not an option and I know you won't smoke. It is so easy to revert to our ways of thinking. "Well I not happy so I am going to smoke at you (stomping feet)" :eg: Know the feeling. Marie is right social smokers smell too. What would George and Sammy think? Your cats have gotten use to you smelling good. You will be fine!!! Windy Your not whining, you are stating truth...nicotine and its memory have wedged itself into our little souls and it is no wonder that in times of stress, that smoking lamp lites up (even if it is just a mild glow)...But you know what, I know your not going to smoke. because I have read and sensed in your posts a slow but seady perceptual change regarding nicotine...In your mind its a no go, but ah that memory does remain...Stay well and strong...You can handle any stress sans nicotine... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 198 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,940 Amount Saved: $1,386.00 Life Gained: Days: 36 Hrs: 6 Mins: 5 Seconds: 27

Windy, Now that you have had time to think about it, I bet you would be really whining if you had that smoke! Just the junkie trying to get at you during a weak moment. You beat him though! Windy, No, you're absolutely right. Drinking water and chewing gum doesn't solve anything either. So what does? For you, venting seemed to help, maybe you could start a journal? Time to start developping new ways to cope with stress! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Windy just visualize yourself smoking with all the negatives attached to it, you'll be ok. Social smokers stink also when they smoke LOL. Lately, things have been a tad too stressful at work...I went to bed thinking about it and I woke up thinking about it. Today, the whole team was feeling abit discouraged (as was I) One member of our team smokes and another is a social smoker...I was more than just a tad bit jealous when they were able to slip out for a smoke. I know...I know!!! It won't make things any better!!! .... But neither does drinking bottled water and chewing gum.... The cravings pass...I'll be okay...I just wanta whine a little. Okay...I feel better now!
