Thanks Straightflop, I just passed about that amount of time too, and I agree that it does get better each day! The mental gymnastics can be a challenge, but with all the fresh veggies available this time of year - it's been a great time to quit. Mmmm, fresh peas:) And one of my new habits is surfing this site often. I love that: "Remember you are not giving up anything" How true! mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $14.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 43 Seconds: 2

Great attitude, straightflop!! Not only are you not giving anything up, you are gaining so much. There are 87,932,603 reasons not to smoke and not a single good one for smoking. Way to go!! And you feel better and better as you move on through your quit! Which is exactly why most ex smokers say "Don't know why I didn't do it sooner." :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,550 Amount Saved: $1,076.10 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 12 Mins: 10 Seconds: 21

Just thought I wanted to contribute to those thinking about - or just starting out - that it does get better right around the 72 hour point. I have noticed the constant thinking of a smoke is gone but I do get cravings every 10-15 minutes but they go away now unlike the first 2 days. Also, if you just know that you are never going to smoke again. Make it not an option, then you will actually do this just fine and it will be easy. This is all a mental game. Just play it right. Remember you are not giving up anything. That's the key. Now just get used to life as a non-smoker. That is the tricky part. At this stage we now need to re-learn somethings as non-smokers and more importantly - ex-smokers. We will do some stuff different and that will have to be learned over the next few weeks. We are all different but I was a pack + a day for 15 years. There is a lot my body needs to relearn.
