Heart Palpitations Again!

for 20 år siden 0 38 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Vikkee - I get very similar symptoms to you and (surprise, surprise) I'm peri-menopausal as well - grrrrr!! This is apparently a symptom of the good old change. Sometimes I can be just lying in bed, ready to doze off and my heart acts exactly the same way as you describe. I also smoke like a chimney (shame on me!!) so that probably doesn't help. I think everyone's advice above is great - we obviously dwell on every little twinge that our body/mind throws at us - and it's a hard habit to get out of, but not impossible. I'm about to go out and cut the grass and get a bit of physical exercise to give my poor old brain a rest!! Take care, Wendy xxxx

Does it feel like your heart flips over in your throat? I get this and have had several tests done and they were all normal. My doctor said it is like a "bleep" in our electrical system. Exercise gets rid of them - the stronger your heart muscle, the less this will happen.

Vikkee, Ive had palpaptations all my life many years before the panic hit at age 28. I was born with a heart murmer (benign), I too had the echo, holter, etc with GP and cardiologist. Its just is bothersome with the panic attacks. Funny, the last time I went into remission was WHEN I took a vacation to Florida back in '95, stayed that way for 3 years, no panic, wasnt agoraphobic anymore either. Enjoy your vacation!!

Hi Vikkee I get heart palpatations all the time with my anxiety and panic attacks. I had an electrocardiogram done and blood work but not the holster. My doctor has many patients with anxiety and she is excellent. Maybe if you're doctor isn't taking your panic seriously, you should look for another one. Anytime I have a problem, my doctor takes me in right away and answers any questions I might have. She told me that anxiety and panic can be debilitating and she's right!! Glad you had a good time in Florida. I went to Cancun and my anxiety didn't decrease at all. The worst thing to do is to dwell on it I know it's hard I do it too. But just get up and do something else. I hope this eases your mind a bit.

Okay. I had the battery of heart tests before I left for Florida a month ago. 24 hour holter, echocardiogram and they found nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing. My family doctor and my cardiologist told me to go to Florida and forget about taking my pulse constantly, which I have. And the panic level has been amazingly low for the first time in years. I'm extending my vacation till June. BUT...all good things must come to an end, and just about 15 minutes ago, my heart started jumping around again. It did it 2-3 times in less than a minutes time. Now...since neither doctor really addresses my panic seriously...and both said there is nothing wrong with my heart. Does the panic/and or peri menopause cause this to happen? Does anyone else get it? And can someone reassure me that I really am okay? I'm not having chest pains, my heart isn't racing...it jumped and made me catch my breath. Yes, it's happened before. I suppose I'm just taking a step backwards for a moment, knowing the answers, but wanting to hear them again. For those of you who DO get the palpitations, at what point would you run to the hospital? I don't feel panicky at all really. It just scared me. For those of you who are sometimes at wit's end if this panic is ever going to end, try a trip to say....Florida...Miami is good...my meds haven't changed, and this isn't the first time that a change of scenery seemed to "cure" me some. It's nice to be free almost all the time. Now...if these darn palpitations would stay away! I need a quick reassurance and thanks to anyone who replies!
