Wow Twin, Just what I needed to hear today...as I am having a harder day. Maybe you didn't realize it...but you've just encouraged someone. I'm saying thanks. :) Iwin So glad you came to share with us after a year, expressing some of the griefs that have happened along the way with your testimony, "The more things that happen along the way that you handle without smoking the eaiser it gets. It won't happen overnight, it does take time but it will happen." This gives everyone hope. Thanks for checking in! auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,613 Amount Saved: $247 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 4 Mins: 32 Seconds: 31

Congratulations Iwin on your awesome quit! You really have won! Way to go! Perhaps the reason you were having awful cravings around 1 year is because 1 year tends to be a common rough spot for many quitters. I know I went through that too and almost gave up everything to go back to smoking during that time! Luckily I made it through and so did you! Way to go! I can also relate to the cinnamon gum thing too. To this day, I can't have Twizzler Pull n' Peel licorice. I used to "smoke" those whenever I had a craving, and even now, they bring on horrible cravings because I associate those with cravings. So, I think there's definitely something true about what you're saying. Congrats again on your quit and glad to see you made it over that one year hurdle. It really isn't as bad as Hell Week and we both know that we NEVER want to go through THAT again! So congrats on making it through and here's to 2 years before we know it! Crave the Quit! Iwin, Wow, you have come through lots of stressful situations this past year. But look at you, congratulations on those 411 awesome days. Sometimes it is the simple things we change that makes the difference. We are close in our quits, on Feb 13th I found myself in a situation that I couldn't leave. It wasn't cravings it was just thinking about smoking. I called it the NAG, and it stayed around for about 7 days. The situation was one that I had never been through without smoking. My granddaughter gave birth and made me a great grandmother. I was in the car and on the phone more than usual and those two things are triggers for me. But everything is fine now. I knew I wasn't going to smoke but the thought just wouldn't turn loose. I woke up on the 19th and they were gone. We will continue on this journey, and just think 2 years will be here before we know it. Congratulations Iwin!!! Good to hear from you. :) Sunshine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 415 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,062 Amount Saved: $1452.5 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 22 Mins: 23 Seconds: 19

Hi all, I have been quit for a year and a month now. During my quit I don't know how I would have made it without my cinamon gum. But even after a year I was still have cravings every now and then (of course I did not give in to it). I started thinking that the very thing that helped me with my quit might be hurting me now. So I stopped chewing the cinamon gum and switched to another flavor and you know, I have not had a craving since. Just wanted to pass this discovery along in case it might help someone else. Also I just wanted to say that anyone can quit. Over the past year I have dealt with a husband who did not feel well for most of the year, a father who has been diagnosed with alzheimers, and a sister who has been diagonosed with cancer. Through all that I have not had one puff. Smoking would not have changed any of these things, and I was surprised to find that I could handle it without smoking. Who would have thought. The more things that happen along the way that you handle without smoking the eaiser it gets. It won't happen overnight, it does take time but it will happen. Iwin.....I think you finally "let go" of smoking. Dumping the gum was your way of finalizing your quitting. You probably weren't so much craving as still "thinking" about smoking. By letting the association go, you let the thoughts go. It was a good move...don't you feel powerful actually, that YOU are in control of your life.....whatever happens,,,and bad stuff will still happen, but YOU are driving.
