Hanging on

Third day today up until this point have been doing fine , tempted yesterday but beat back the demons with a big stick. Today has been a different story all day, as soon as my eyes opened this morning all i could think about was lighting up . My head feels like it has been trampled by a herd of elephants and i feel like i need to scream at everyone that crosses my path. Is this normal?. But i haven't smoked, and i went for a run after work i did ten miles, the funny thing is that after any sort of physical training that i usually do, i have a smoke , before i even have my breath back. Now today that didn't happen i never give it a thought until much later on, Progress. I put most of the credit down to you people and your support. It is a huge help and comfort to know that i am not going through this on my own and i can let off steam by sharing my frustration and successes with you. THANKS!. Keep at it Alex because it does get better. Smoker for 20 years, attempted quit several times until I just got stubborn and simply said no. Knowing that this addiction can be beat and doesn't last forever. When I quit over 4 years ago what this site did for me may sound simple but true. I realized these feelings I was having come with the territory. See unless you're a smoker you have no clue what smokers go through. My wife, my kids gave me support, but they didn't understand how tuff this is. As an ex-smoker I do understand and you really do have to take this minute by minute. Those minutes do add up to days and soon you'll find it is all in the head. Just know what you are feeling is normal for a NON Smoker just starting out. Once again the best advice I can give to anyone is BE STUBBORN. Get Angry that you are not going to be controlled by anyone, especially a white tube whose only person is to make you an addict and take your money away.

You are so not alone in this. Always remember that even when you are away from your computer and these threads. Remember also to set up your rewards and reward yourself. Threads that really hit home with you, you should print out and carry with you, and during hard times you can pull them out and use them to get you through the moment. Post lot's. It helps us all to read your words. Go ahead and scream! It's allowed. I screamed in my car when I was alone early in my quit (but other drivers wondered about me). Kick, scream, cry, break dishes, punch a pillow... whatever works, just don't smoke. Not One Puff Ever and one day at a time is how we get over smoking. You can do it! Keep going!
