Hey Tyler --
I've noticed that some people make a big deal about the distinction between "ex-smokers" and "non-smokers;" the most vocal opinion is that we are all "non-smokers" now, but like Denise, I just don't buy that. (And Denise, honey, you don't want to KNOW what those people do with their hands!)
Anyway, I also smoked for 40+ years, so no way am I a non-smoker. I prefer the simpler, "I don't smoke." I have no desire to go back, but it sure doesn't mean that I wasn't there for a whole lot of years.
