I've read tons of posts about the second week. Is it just as bad as the first week. When will this get better? I know that these questions have probably been answered, but I'm feeling very anxious. I glad that I can't leave work for another four hours. Hoping that this feeling and craving goes away before I get out of work.
I have found that taking deep breathes really does help. But it's not helping me now.
Why do people who don't smoke think that it should be no big deal for you to quit? I want to strangle those people. And then there are those who think that they are helping but really they aren't. I just want to wear a sign that says "Unless you've walked in my shoes please keep your comments to yourselves"
Thanks, I just needed to vent a little.

I just about wanted to either cry or strangle the pharmacist and the dr. at one time. I asked the pharmacist what was the best thing to help me quit smoking. He said "stop buying cigarettes". I asked the dr. She said "go home and start taking this medication, after two weeks stop smoking". Like - OK, just stop it. RIGHT! It is a lot more involved than just inhaling (sorry Bill C.). It's tough, but you're tougher I can feel it. Watch out for that anxiety, it's part of the perpetuating cycle of smoking to alleviate the anxiety. The thing that's working best for me at this point in time is when I get really frenzied with a crave, I look in the mirror. The disgust puts me back in my place. sending strength your way today.

Freedom,
Everybody is different. For me, week 2 was harder, but I'm just one person. It could be easier for you. Who knows? You will find out here shortly! :) Either way, just try to keep your spirits up and vow to not smoke, no matter HOW hard it gets!
Crave the Quit!

Golfergirl,
Believe me, we've all been where you are and know what you're going through! The reason that non-smokers don't understand is because they've never been there. It would be like me trying to be a tour guide in Africa! How the Hell am I supposed to know where to go? I've never been there! Well, either have non-smokers, so when they think you should be over it, tell them (nicely) that quitting smoking involves stopping one of the absolute most addictive substances and that it's not as easy as "just stopping." I wish it were, but it can be quite a challenge.
Next, Heck Week is sort of an up-down-up-down feeling. You start to feel a little bit of the freedom and see a few benefits so you're excited but then, as soon as you get up, you start to get depressed. One of the worst symptoms of quitting can be depression. Many people suffer depression when they quit smoking. A really good way to get rid of the blues is to reward yourself A LOT! Especially in the beginning! Reward yourself for all of this hard work you're doing. You deserve it!
Vent anytime you need to! We're here for that. Congrats on 3 days!
Crave the Quit!

Well what I can tell you is that each quit is different. I have had enough to know that :( The way I look at it today is you have two choices, you can grit your teeth and get though this or you can smoke and start all over. I could never grit my teeth or could never let people know I was in trouble. So I would take the later and smoke. Not a good choice. This time I choose to grit my teeth, let people know where I am coming from and I have the most amazing support group. So hang in there you can do this.

Golfergirl,
Remember your body is going through a lot of changes and it will take time for it to get back on track. If you stand by and watch what is happening it will be a lot more difficult to push forward.
Make sure your are occupied and busy. Use relaxation techniques before bed to ease into sleep and start each day fresh and full of activity. You can take a day for you to enjoy yourself and pamper the new you.
Vent away, this is what we are here for, we have walked a mile or two in your shoes :)
Josie
