Hey Anna I've been starting to take Magnesium/Calcium/Zinc vitamins, B & a multivitiman every morning when I can remember to. I don't drink Orange juice though I think I really lack vitamin C.....I'll have to check the dosage tomorrow, somebodies sleeping here I don't want to wake them up. Selenium I never knew about that. I found a website that gave a specific diet & supplements recommended for PD but I forgot the link. It listed alot of vegetables from what I remember, something I could surely use more of. I don't think no way I could go on a strict diet though, that just ain't me! I did go from around 195(my usual weight)up to 248lbs!!(In my heavy drinking days aka up to November 2002)down to 185lbs a couple weeks ago(I'm 6'1). I'm trying to get back into shape & lift weights again too but I've been feeling pretty lousy sometimes lately.... Good nutrition, diet,,,agh!! & excersice are every important for anxiety huh? & a benzo too I can't help it Klonopin I am fed up with I'm on a lower dose along with Neurontin to taper it?! & Inderal...I'm seeing a new doctor the 21st...we;ll see how that goes......I HATE HAVING TO BE ON MEDS! but my body can't take it it's so dependent on them!!!

I have a book titled 'Prescription for Nutritional Healing' that says calcium and magnesium are very important to take if you have anxiety/panic disorder. For calcium, the recommended amount is 2,000 mg. daily. Calcium works as a natural tranquilizer. For magnesium, the amount is 600-1,000 mg. daily. Magnesium helps relieve anxiety, tension, nervousness, muscular spasms, and tics. It is best taken with calcium. You should check to see if you have an iron deficiency, as this can increase the risk of panic attacks. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant that protects the heart, and people with this disorder have been found to have low selenium levels. B complex vitamins are recommended...5,000-10,000mg of vitamin c can have a tranquilizing effect...vitamin e and zinc are good too. This stuff is pretty much from the book. I've been taking all of these and watching my diet for awhile now. Of course I'm also on Paxil and Klonopin, but the supplements and a good diet can't hurt! Hope this helps.

I hadn't heard that until I read your post, but I have been getting into the habit of eating yogurt this past week for other reasons. It's good for the digestive tract, and it's a good source of calcium for people like me who have a level of lactose intolerance. Perhaps it's been said to help anxiety because it gives you B vitamins. I personally wouldn't depend on any one food to be the magic cure for panic attacks, but eating yogurt sure couldn't hurt. Now I just have to get used to eating the plain yogurt because so far I've been eating the fruity kind that's apparently not as beneficial. I can't stand the taste either, but I'm getting used to it. I add a little cereal on top to cut the flavor a bit.

I heard that yogurt is good for preventing panic attacks. Does anyone know if this is true? I hate yogurt, but if it works, I'll suck it up and eat it. Thanks, beckie
