I am not currently out in BC, but that is where I will probably be going to school. What you have to understand is that I live in Toronto, that means a 5 hour (or longer) flight away from home to get to college!

Oh my!!!
I thought I was the only one absolutely gripped with terror about going back to university! I have no idea how I am going to do it, but it is causing a lot of anxiety within me. I graduated in June 2003 from high school and I'm totally lost about what i want to do in my life.
Good luck to you, hopefully we both can do it someday.

I'm almost out of high school too. My boyfriend wants me to go somewhere near him. I've already been accepted somewhere near him...I just don't know how I'm going to be able to deal with the panic away from home...I dunno what I'm gonna do about doctors or people to talk to. Ultimately it would be much easier to just stay home. But I can't stand the people I live with. I have to grow up sometime...I have no idea how to deal with this either.
Fear and excitement is bang on! Once we leave our nest, it is a feeling of independence with a whole lot of other unexplainable questions and concerns. From experience, going away to school was fun. However, the fear being alone, having enough money and grades where my fears. I had friends and family who where supportive. If I had a personal concern (in this case Panic) there were support specialists/councilors available for me. I did indeed use them because there are times in our lives when we need to have this type of outside support.
I hope that I was able to point you in the right direction. We are all different and I am sure that you will be able to enjoy the next stage in your life. Remember that we are always here for support and hopefully be able to answer your questions and concerns to the best of our ability.
Take care and be sure to keep us posted.

Hello again everyone,
Hope everyone had a belssed holiday season. I am slowing preping myself to go back to school, and am excited that I have only a few months before I am done Highschool forever! My question is mostly post-secondary school based, as that tends to be one of the things on my mind a lot lately. I was wondering how many over you moved away to go to university/college, and how you dealt with that. Personally, I have had mixed feelings of excitement, anxiety, and a touch of fear. Any tips on making the transition would also be greatly appreciated.
Love,
Krissy
