Den, 1st, you only fail when you stop trying. 2nd, after two weeks of quitting, I had the nicodemon voices whispering to me that for my 2 week reward, I deserved a cig. The first two weeks are very hard and we are a little warn out when we get them and may feel a little weak. We feel like the cravings are never going to end and this is just fruitless. Just hang in there til week three....then just a little longer to week 4 and so on. One day at a time if necessary. You are stronger than the addiction....dig deep and you will make it past two weeks and beyond!!! Hey Tyler -- I've noticed that some people make a big deal about the distinction between "ex-smokers" and "non-smokers;" the most vocal opinion is that we are all "non-smokers" now, but like Denise, I just don't buy that. (And Denise, honey, you don't want to KNOW what those people do with their hands!) Anyway, I also smoked for 40+ years, so no way am I a non-smoker. I prefer the simpler, "I don't smoke." I have no desire to go back, but it sure doesn't mean that I wasn't there for a whole lot of years. Don't know if that helps any -- peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,523 Amount Saved: $275 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 19 Mins: 57 Seconds: 19

Congrats and welcome!! And sorry for taking so long to tell so. I have the same quit aids as you...patch and wellbutrin. I as well have had sleep issues. Maybe you are better than me about going to the doc (for me to go something has to be about ready to fall off), with that I said I tried, to narrow it down a bit: I took the patch off at night at bed... ( I didn't smoke while I slept) Then I figured a little before bed. That helped. My doc had me on wellbutrin 2 times a day for the 1st month......I went down to taking one in morning. Yes it winds me up a little bit. Since doing those alteration.....I get more sleep (sometimes)... but I am bone tired and HAVE to take a nap when I get home from work. That helps as well...the added bonus to that is you get to be called a lazy ol' man by the ol' lady!!! Talk to your doc about this stuff, they might be able to enlighten you (me too)...-Kevin My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 878 Amount Saved: $197.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 5 Mins: 24 Seconds: 42

Hi Tyler! congratulations on your most excellent 26 days! I love your can do attitude. Regarding your question about long time quitters. I don't qualify as a long timer, but I would venture to say that since I smoked for 40 years, I will not ever say I am a non smoker because too much of who I am was defined by smoking. It would be like lying somehow. I like to call non smokers "never smokers" anyway! LOL So ex smoker for me. And what the heck do never smokers do with their hands?...... Right On, Happy! That's the way to do it! Den: Your determination to quit MUST be stronger than your desire to smoke. And do whatever it takes to NOT LIGHT THAT NEXT CIGARETTE. Hi Tyler Congrats on 21 days. You are stepping down on patches a little early in your quit. I used the 21 mg patch for 5 - 6 weeks before stepping down...by the time I stepped down I was very comfortable with no "physical" craves....this helped to ease the transition as I stepped down to the 14 mg. Everybody's quit is different so 3 weeks might be plenty for you...I'm just a little worried that it might feel like "hell" week all over again if you step down too soon. Congrats on the weight loss...I wish that I could say the same (Actually, those 9 lbs lost might come in handy later as I found that my appetite increase substantially once the nicotine was completely out of my system)...Unfortunately, my waistline increased too (Healthy diet on the agenda for the New Year). Lastly, I was just wondering if you are wearing the patches to bed. I had no problem wearing them at night but I know that most people took them off because the patches caused alot of problems with sleep. Anyhowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....you are doing great! I agree! I think you are going to do just fine!
