BREAK DOWN!

Thanks for all your kind and truthful words of support and wisdom. As I move forward, I've made changes already. The biggest one it to try to quit drinking this year. I've quit three times previously for one-year stretches. I don't have an association of smoking with drinking. It's just that the alcohol burrows into my head and the nicoderm follows in its wake. Together they take over my control center, especially if there is any space for them to get a foot in the door. I've registered at this sister site for ETOH and will keep all that separate. 2007 is going to be the year of maturity, calm control, personal healthy fulfillment and quality interactions with my kids and others. And, I'll take an order of fries with that. p.s. and I've got it now-wait for 10 responses. Happy- you'll make it to 41 days before me.- do her justice. Kaitilina, cheermom, windy, Dutch Fini, Monica and Casey - keeping this in perspective will help. Lady, you're right, the miserable smoking experience has successfully elmiminated any romance of it. ttin, Sparky and Katy - you guys are tough! Thanks for putting my armor back on and sharpening my sword. Let's GO! I haven't read all your responses yet. There is an eerie frontal system passing through. As the lightning flashed and the wind howled I dumped and stomped upon the rest of the pack as I smoked a cigarette on what I had claimed as a sacred ground. I am weird and weak. I felt as desolate in smoking as I did in wanting the cigarette. I'll seek out some strength tomorrow. Tonight I will seek solace in what sleep will come to me. Tonight I have lost the battle. Dear imallclear, I slipped a week ago and I made the mistake of not coming here 1st ,, posting and then waiting for at least 10 responses. For me I didn't think I could put into words what I was going through.. fact is I could have written "HELP".. "SOS"... ANYTHING at all and that's when I had my slip. You posted here and didn't wait.. hon it's a slip. Please come back to us. We're all here for you and will not judge you. I felt so horrible, put so much pressure on myself for all the wrong reasons and as other's said to me.. be gentle on yourself, dust yourself off, regroup and continue on with your quit. I didn't have another slip and left my quit meter at what it was.. you can too if it was one slip. Either way.. Please check in and let us know what we can do for you. So sorry to have missed all this, but at least you are back with us. I am having a crisis myself today, so I'm not going to be tough at all, just want to say hang on, we can do this. Well...I'm afraid that I am much too late, having just finished watching a movie. Well...clear, I'm afraid that you were right, you probably were experiencing growing pains. For whatever reason, most of us go through phases in our quit where the cravings become extremely strong (sometimes for days) Sometimes we recognize why (i.e. we are going through alot of stress) but sometimes they happen for no reason at all. I think that the reason we post is to remind ourselves that this is a phase and that it will get better. In fact, I believe that I really struggled around the same time as you. Ultimately, nobody can make us quit and nobody can make us stay quit. Our desire to quit has to be stronger than our desire to smoke. For all others who are feeling this way, I believe the suggestion is to post, wait for 10 replies, and if you still feel like smoking...go ahead. In the past, I may have been one of the people who was reading a post sent by someone who was ready to cave. I may have been reading because I was feeling the same way and wanted to see the responses. Sometimes, if I am feeling discouraged, I either post or just read posts (and don't necessarilly try to give advice to others) At those times, I'm very thankful for the support that you all provide. Take care, Clear...Hope you made a good decision. So, what now, imallclear? I hope that you have not decided to go back to smoking because no-one posted. You said that you couldn't guarantee that the response would stop you anyway. I am very confused. You wrote: I see that I have had a view and no response. I'm going to the store. Be back. What did you think then? No one responsed so it's ok to go to the store and smoke? There is only one person responsable that made you buy them and smoke...... YOU !! You had the choice: Smoking or not smoking. Period. Have not been around much, and now feel a little guilty..... But, ultimately, it is YOUR quit. Been where you are many, many times...each time kicked myself in the rump afterward, because it wasn't worth it...went and did the same thing, over and over again. You will quit...when you WANT it more than you DON'T want it. Jump back up on the wagon. Don't give up quitting...you'll get it right at some point. Every time you slam into that brick wall, you learn something... Glad you're still with us :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,690 Amount Saved: $904 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 16 Mins: 56 Seconds: 57

Imallclear, You think a smoke because just as Katy said, you're an addict. Bottom line: You have a choice to smoke or not to smoke. Consider the repercussions of each choice. You can smoke, be dissapointed with yourself and get back to your quit all over again, hell week included or... You can choose to not smoke today. You can take advantage of all the physical and financial gains your quit has brought you. You can overcome this craving like you have all others and relish as your quit gets easier and the junkie in you loses strength. You can be praised by your friends here and enjoy a great reward. You can continue to put one foot in front of the other and continue to reclaim your freedom. In the end, the choice is yours. We know you can do this!
