I think I understand how you may feel about giving up something that you have been accustomed to doing for so, so many years. At this moment you are here; something important as driven you to quit. Whatever your reason, let that reason be your pillar of strength, remember it, write it down, and recite it often. Dont ever let smoking thoughts dwell or get a foothold in your mind. When it starts to pop in, stop it immediately using your coping tools. Do not let it lie in your mind and let it talk to you. Fill your mind with other thoughts. Use distractions, self talk and other coping tools to feel the time. Realize that quitting does take place and it can take place in you. People from all walks of life quit smoking. How do you think they do it? They find ways to cope with life without that smoke. I remember I could not solve difficult problems without first lighting up. Is that dumb? Yes very dumb. Quitters like you, start off quitting minute by minute, then hour by hour, then day by day, week by week, and month by month. The craves lessen and will leave as does the smoking thoughts. Look at peoples quit meters those whom have come before, hear, and feel their resolve. They started day one just like you and managed their cravings. I like seeing all you new people here and it would please me very much if I may from now on refer to you as an x-smoker or non-smoker. This is our journey and we do it together so post often and receive and give guidance. So lets take control, dont let smoking thoughts consume you and let us rid ourselves of this addiction so that we may lead happier, more fruitful lives without that nagging feeling of always wanting that next cigarette.
