As a wise Shevie asked me just yesterday......"when was the last time you rewarded yourself". This is really important. Maybe get something that you can relax and enjoy in your clean apartment. I took a bath last night and really enjoy the smell of candles now that I can smell again. The sky's the limit...be creative.
Congrats on your great quit....stay strong!!!

It's a tough time. You're on day 42 at the time of this post. The immediate ugly bugs are behind you. where do you go from here, especially with a double whammy - a time of year jam-packed with emotionalities(sp?) and and tradition? Here's what I'm wondering: What kind of a person do you want to be? What kind of holiday season do you want to have.
You have a golden opportunity. The slate has been wiped clean. It is up to you to define.
Of course you will have the price of experience to pay. George Carlin said that age is a terrible price to pay for maturity.
I love the way you wrote" it can't hurt . . YOU!"
Bottom Line: You are at a point in your journey in which you must define yourself.
Have fun with that.

Hey valic,
I don't know if this will help as you are right behind me but a week or so ago I was driving home, looking forward to another 4 hours of work when I got home after the 8 I had already done and I realized that SMOKING HADN"T CROSSED MY MIND!!! I am beginning to feel less like a smoker not smoking and more line an ex/non smoker!! It was day 60 that I really realized this. So just keep hanging on, some day it won't be something substantial enough to get bored of. Also i think rewards are really good advice. Oh yeah, smell your hair, that always helps me it smells so good all day!!
Hang on!

Hey Everyone,
Once again thanks for the helpful responses. I have started
doing puzzles you know the big 1000 piece ones. I found that they
really take me away when I am craving. Also hubby is taking me to
favorite restaurant Sat, only he doesn't know it yet. I am going
to surprise him with an unexpected "date". With all the hussle and
bussle of the holidays "husband and wife" time gets lost somewhere.
So today is alittle better, I have a new plan and a new hobby. I am going to "change it up" as Coban said and have a reward as alot of you have suggested. Thanks and happy and smokefree holidays to everyone! ~Valic

Gonna,
Well it might take me awhile since cleaning is the LEAST of my
favorite distractions but anything to help a fellow non-smoker/supporter as you have been! Have a great holiday season! ~Valic

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted in awhile too busy tryin to get the shopping done
lol. I just feel down right now and nicodemon keeps coming around
and saying "Just one, it can't hurt!". Of course I say to him no it
can't hurt....YOU! But it does hurt me!!! I have taken numerous baths
and done my crossword puzzles, plus cleaned the whole apartment twice! Maybe I need new coping skills? I have heard of people becoming bored with there quits, is that what this is? Hanging in there, Valic

Just a little pre-holiday/mid-quit blues! Keep busy and don't let the ho-hums take control. Sounds like you are doing pretty good at 42 days. Glad you're still with us and it's nice to hear from you. If you get really bored, bring your shovel over and you can clean my house! ;)

Valic,
Yes it's possible. If you coping strategies aren't as effective as they once were don't be afraid to seek out new ones. As you progress in your quit, this may be necessary. Try putting some fun back into your quit with a few distractions you'll enjoy!

Hey Valic, you hanging in there??? I agree with Cobenfan, change your routine for the holidays! Works for me. I usually have my tree up the night of thanksgiving. Guess what? I didnt and it waited until I got back from my 6 month reward. I didn't used to like change but now I love it because it helps me along the way with strengthening my quit. Take care
Hugs
Kim
