[COLOR=PURPLE]HEY THERE JOSEPHL. I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. MY FAVORITE CIGARETTE OF THE DAY - AND THE HARDEST TO GIVE UP WAS THE FIRST ONE IN THE MORNING. MY ALARM WOULD GO OFF AT 6 AM, AND BEFORE I EVEN OPENED MY EYES I WAS WALKING OUTSIDE SMOKING A CIGARETTE. THE WAY THAT I LEARNED TO COPE WITH THAT ONE WAS INSTEAD OF GOING OUT AND LIGHTING UP A SMOKE, I WOULD WALK TO THE WINDOW, LOOK OUTSIDE AND TAKE SOME DEEP BREATHS, THEN I WOULD GO AND JUMP INTO THE SHOWER. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOUR ROUTINE SCHEDULE, BUT TO ALSO BE SURE TO SUBSTITUTE SMOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE. ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS AT WORK. I HAD CERTAIN SCHEDULED TIMES THAT I WOULD GO TO THE SMOKING AREA. WELL, I STILL TAKE MY SCHEDULED TIMES, BUT INSTEAD OF THE SMOKING AREA, I TAKE THAT FIVE MINUTES TO WALK AROUND THE WAREHOUSE AND BREATH DEEP. IT DOES GET EASIER, I PROMISE YOU THAT, BUT YOU HAVE TO WANT TO MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU. I would take this bull by something else if I thought it would help. It reminds me of withdrawls. Back when I smoked and couldn;t get to a smoke I would get an upset stomach and feel jittery. I always smoke more in the morning than the evening. I was a chain smoker from 5:00-noon. It's controllable in that I'm not going to smoke but it still sucks. They say 3 days, nicotine is out, maybe so but I don't feel much better in the mornings than I did day one.

You have me beat, I only smoked for 40 years. I don;t care if I smoked only once, this morning sickness is tough. I went to the doctor and had a physical, blood work and stress test. All parts are working fine. Eating healthy and sleeping fine. Bet I could smoke one ciggarette and I would feel better but I won't and instead whine like a school girl. This blows.

Yes, Izzy I went off the Chantix. I "thought" the Chantix was making me sick so after 8-10 days, I got off it, that was 20 days ago. What I think now is all along it was the same feeling in my stomach. Apparently the chantix may have been part of it but the upset is still here. Stay on Chantix if you can. I guess they give you 8 weeks for a reason. Besides..Chantix dreams are just too sweet :) I am taking something for sleep Trazadone and it helps me sleep through it. It's funny, it's now 11:44 and my stomach is not too bad. Go figure.

Day 20 smoke free. Still about to jump out of my skin in the morning. More controlable after lunch. The bad news for me is that I wake at 5:00 am. How long does this last?

JosephL, Sorry you're not feeling well. Didn't u go off Chantix? Is it harder without the meds? I remember you had nausea while on the meds, too. I'm still on Chantix despite side effects. Nausea usually with nite pill and now sleep disturbances (wide awake at 1 am every morning). I can't wait to be off it. But b/c this is the best quit I've ever had, I don't want to give up my helper too soon. Hit 4 weeks today and doing pretty well. Cravings are more manageable.

I've read that nicotine withdrawal for some can take weeks or even months. Plus a prescription change in there can also affect you for a while. Since your MD checked other stuff, it may still be from this. My two cents is to continue to nurture yourself physically and psychologically as your body flushes that nic. And, do whatever you can to make your mornings (5-noon) reflective of a non-smoker's lifestyle - whatever that is for you, different from whatever it was. Our thoughts are with you. It's not easy. Keep posting. You mentioned sickness, is it physically ill feelings? and/or cravings? Have you changed your routine in the a.m. over the past 20 days? What is it that makes the mornings so difficult? Perhaps you could take this bull by the horns, it's been whipping you around long enough. I agree with the others in that it can take time, but, I don't see why the mornings should be unique from the rest of your day. Perhaps, there is an answer there somewhere.
