Things don't seem real

As for me... hey I know very much how that feels. I got my first beautiful anxiety attack in late may. I have not felt the same since.... The panic faded slowly.. It came out of the blue but I could feel something was wrong for a couple weeks before I had it. The depersonalization peaked about 2 months after the first panic attack. I havent had any major attacks for almost a couple of months now. But Im still stuck with a little anxiety... ...AND still stuck with feelings of depersonalization. Hopefully it will fade in time like the anxiety faded. Do you still have anxiety? I still have it even though I dont get big attacks like I used to and the dp I believe is related to this anxious thinking. regards, Ben

The de-realization period is a time for me to grasp the fact that the anxiety is beginning to take hold of me. I get this near the beginning of an anxiety episode. I feel like there is nothing I can count on, sort of like I am alone in the world...even though I have the support of my loved ones. Its almost as if I am focused on only me. Reading or starting a project usually gets me through this time. The project occupies my mind enough to keep me from dwelling on the "not real" feeling, plus it helps amchor me with real things to do and deal with. The un-occupied mind has the opportunity to wander and become lost. Doing something gives me focus for a while and helps releive the spaced out feeling. Mike

I was just wondering if anyone has any tricks to use when things don't seem real? I seem to deal with this on a daily basis, and don't know how to make it stop. I haven't had a major panic attack in a long time, but can't shake the feelings of derealization. This is by far the worst symptom of anxiety for me. Anyway any advice would be great. Thank you, Shana
