Hi Gang
Before I forget this over Xmas...
On the first day of my quit I went to see my counsellor Mel who gave me the first patches and we agreed an appointment in a weeks time.
I used the patches BUT what really kept me going was the fact that I had the appointment with her,I had agreed not to smoke and being stubborn I therefore didnt.!
This went on for 8 weeks and as the weeks passed it became routine to visit and routine not to smoke.
This is IMPORTANT without these visits and having a prebooked appointment I would not have made it I know!!
I would also get random calls at home checking how I was.
Please try this if you struggle it worked for me after 50 years!
Oh and my apopointments were always a Tuesday !
Oh and my quit date was a Tuesday!!
also important ask Duffis!
Love
xx
Phil

Phil,
Thank you for sharing this strategy with us. Stop smoking clinics are great for extra support and guidance. You can acquire information about these clinics from your doctor or public health nurse.

Phil,
I have my own incentive. Having put Mrs Ed through almost a year of mood swings and dark days, I would be too scared to return to smoking (Mrs Ed standing behind me with large frying pan in hand)
keep the quit (or else)!
Mr Ed ;)

That is a great idea, Phil. Making youself accountable to another is a strong motivator. You certainly don't want them expressing disappointment in you.
Tuesday's are good, too. :)
Congratulations, Phil and a very, merry Christmas to you.
