Horrible Week -- New Anxiety/Panic Symptom -- Leg Numbness

Yes, that was one of my first symptoms, that awful rubbery legs, felt like I couldnt lift my foot more than a half an inch up, to bring my leg back down to walk. But you are actually treating that symptom right, keep walking, wear em out, the feeling goes away, muscles may cramp first few times, only because we are exercising them alot. Trish

I have had my panic disorder since 1991 and since then I have pretty much - when having panic attacks - had all the symptoms (racing heart, fear of dying, lump in throat, etc. etc.) but never have my legs been as bad as they are now. Last week Friday I became "paralyzed" with fear...my legs just completely turned to rubber (felt like it) and with each step I was sure I was going to collapse. Both ankles simply started to feel funny and that led to a HUGE panic attack (because I was driving). This morning at 5 AM (NO LESS!) I woke up to get a drink of water and as soon as I got out of bed my legs, again, felt like complete rubber & I was sure I was going to collapse...fall dead of a blood clot...something. I did go to the Doctor last week (because - LUCKILY - when I had my severe attack I was right near the clinic) and they checked for blood clots, etc. -- any problem that my cause this leg rubberness and she agreed it was just a new developing symptom of my panic. SO...my questiion -- does anyone else, when having their panic attacks, have this rubbery leg, feeling like they are going to collapse sensation and if so - what has helped you through it? I can handle the other symptoms I have...because I am used to them -- this new one however is completely freaking me out. I haven't had panic attacks like this in years. I simply do not know how to cope with this new symptom...how do I make the sensation in my legs go away? This morning I walked...ALL over and now my legs are cramping because I was too harsh with the walking. Any help/advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Melissa
