I know EXACTLY what you mean! Yellow lighting or dull lights always bug me, because I like to see clearly, but when I am in a panic episode, they make me very uncomfortable and anxious. I feel almost dizzy or "off" which causes me a lot of anxiety. I was at a very nice restaurant, a seafood buffet, but could not stand it because the dim, yellow lighting was making me sooo anxious. I commented to my mom that perhaps they do it on purpose, to keep people from making to many trips to the buffet. It certainly caused me to lose my appetite pretty quickly. :)
i have a really hard time w/ lights, too-- my problem is w/ flourescent lights mostly, expecially flickering flourescent lights. wearing sunglasses helps me. maybe if you wore lightly tinted glasses?
peace. tai
Thanks, Jaime. It's not that I'm sensitive to lights, it's just that dull yellow light I hate. Like the kind in restaurants when they dim them for dinner. For some reason it makes me nervous and uncomfortable, it's just something that I must work through - exposure therapy is gonna have to be the key. ~sigh~
I have had my eyes checked, I just gotta wear glasses for reading.

I€™m not sure if you€™ve done this but you might want to go to an eye doctor and tell them, you might have an oversensitivity to light, I know people who have that problem.
Hi Jaime,
No I don't have ocd. I've never really liked dull, yellow lights before, but it seems more intense to me now. I've even told my Psycologist that this kind of lighting bothers me, she has that type of lighting in her office. She'll turn on a brighter light for me and it helps. I just have to work through this, infact yesterday I purposely sat in a room with lowered lights hoping I could adjust, but I was definitely nervous during my self-test. I'm going to continue to work on this and will get past my
uncomfortable feelings.

I'm having a problem dealing with room lights not being white enough, but shine too yellow. "They" always say that yellow lighting is supposed to be soothing, but it's not for me, especially since I started having panic/anxiety attacts. I get all edgy and nervous when I'm in yellow lighting. My head starts to get dizzy and my body gets light feeling and anxious and I just want to get out of there. I'm trying to do exposure to it, but I just hate that feeling I get! I prefer true white lighting.
I'm currently not on any meds (was on xanax, tried Buspar and Zoloft...yuck! Hated them) under my psychologist supervision and really am getting much better, but the lights I haven't been able to beat or get comfortable with... yet.
Anyone else experience this? And what have you done to make it all better? Any suggestions to help me work through this would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Cecilia
