It is 4PM and my day is almost over but for the last 4 hours I have been going nuts about giving up and having a smoke. HELP!!! I don't want to fold. It is really getting to me. I don't want to go back, but I am thinking just one. NO NO NO. It is a mind battle. Any advice to calm me done would be great
I made it, The urges really do pass. I just kept on going and next thing I knew I kinda had it off my mind. Tommorrow will be a big test. I have to do all my house calls. I found when I kept a smoking log that when I was in the car and by myself that it when I smoked the most. I keep reminding myself that I am now living a differant life, the life of a NON-SMOKER so I should learn how to live like one, because I choose too. I am enjoying the benefits of Breathing Easier already, I actually felt a big air pocket gasp of air go to my lungs, it was kinda weird, but I can imagine how much is going on to get them back to the way God made them. Ate alot of little Dove Chocolates today and some lifesavers, I enjoyed no guilt as I don't care if I gain a few, I rather work on that later.
Just got home and I am okay. I did about 6 hours of driving today and made it. I listened to music, brought some dove chocolates,LOL and kept saying that I am now living the life of a non-smoker. I kept wanted to just say, okay I will have one and no one will know, but that is the nicodemon as you guys call it talking. I just took it one crave at a time and before I knew it I made it without a cig. Another Day. I can't believe Day 4 is tomorrow. I sure hope it is easier than the last 3. Last time I quit when I was pregnant with my daughter I remember after 3 days I was good. Hope this is true this time. I feel so vulnerable though. I feel like when I get in a argument with my husband, I just want to run out the door and have a cigarette, Instead I have gotten really nasty back because there is no where to go. LOL. Anyway I just prayer no big conflict comes in my life right now, that will be too much of a challenge. I am not going to worry about what hasn't happenened though. I guess it is normal to be looking forward to Bedtime everyday? It is the only time I don't have cravings and can just sleep it off.

I also got some nice flavors of hot teas. Hot tea just seems like a comfort drink.
I love rocky road too! I don't let myself buy the ice cream, because I have an addictive personality (duh), and I would end up having to have it every night for the next 10 years.
The little doves are a little treat I've had around the house for several years. :)

I love those little dove chocolates. Try them with cashews... so non-fattening! Good though! :)

You can do this! Keep saying that to yourself over and over and over. Try taking a relaxing shower or bath.

Dear Time,
You did great. Some ideas for the car is change your radio station to something you don't normally listen to. I did this the first few days of my quit to get me through the long car ride to and from work. Also, purchase a car air freshner....I found that when I got in my car and it smelled good....I didn't want to have a cig in it. Lot's of great coping ideas above...mine were lot's and lot's of assorted mints in the car. I had the freshest breath when I reached a destination...LOL
Good luck and please stay strong. This is all about you and being smoke free....be stronger than the addiction.
Kaiti

YOU CAN DO THIS. Do whatever you have to do to beat that crave. It will pass, if you let it. I know it's not easy. Get tough :eg:. Read the posts. You need to protect your quit, let everything else that you can, go right now. So something radically different, or do something soothing. You are doing swimmingly.
