Hey Shazza, I am currently taking Wellbutrin. Knock on wood...no side effects, it has been about 3 weeks. I tried it several months and could not sleep at all. I decided to try it again because i was feeling very down. The quitting smoking was a second thought. I am feeling much better, had absolutely no PMS this month and also have given up those nasty cigs. Hi Shazza, I for one cannot take any type of anti-depressants. This is why I am currently on the Patch. I have tried several different types (including Zyban) and I could not sleep and became anorexic since I had to force myself to eat every 24 hours. No sleep + no food = one unhappy person. My doctor took me off it when I reported my symptoms which I was told were unusual. The best thing is to speak to your Doc about it. Hi Shazza, I started the Wellbutrin before I tried to quit smoking (probably more than a year ago) so I knew it was the medication and not the quitting. Unfortunately, I am not much help to you because this time I have the same symptoms except I KNOW it's quitting. Hope your Doctor is smarter than me!!?? Well - Shazza..it's hard to determine whether the symptoms you describe are side effect of the medication or a side effect of quitting. During the quit,se can go for elation to depression in less than a day without any medication. We are easily irritated, we cry, we beam with pride. In short, at the beginning, I think most of us are abit of a basket case. Did these symptoms start before you quit or after? Shazza, I tried Wellbutrin but the more I took, the more my anxiety increased. However, this is an unusual reaction. I have heard that it works very well for other people. You really need to talk to your Doctor about what you are experiencing. If it helps, go for it! I tried Wellbutrin about 5 yrs ago it made my quit really rough. I was having night sweats, terrible dreams and I could smell cig smoke miles away. That is one of the reasons it was sooo hard for me to quit this time. I thought that was withdrawls from nicotine. This time I did not go through any of that and Dr put me on a different med. I saw strobe lights when I took Wellbutrin XL. I immediately stopped it and reported it to my doc. She said no more as I am apparently sensitive to it. Hey Shazza, I took wellbutrin to quit, too. Before I quit it made me really irritable and jumpy. It did not elevate my mood, it did the opposite. It worked like a charm for quitting smoking, and felt no physical withdrawals. I took my 2nd dose early in the afternoon, so it didn't mess with my sleep too much. When I came off wellbutrin, I got weepy and sad, but that levelled off. Now months later I find that my anger is raging again, so who knows whats causing this now. Check in with your doctor, and see what he thinks Andrea My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 125 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,506 Amount Saved: $593.75 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 12 Mins: 58 Seconds: 33

Been taking wellbutrin as well for about five months now. I must say, that it does help the thoughts of smoking. I did cut out my afternoon dose, and noticed I slept better. No real side-effects other than interfering with sleep. I experimented with on and off the wellbutrin and decided for me to take it at least in the morning (Wellbutrin has been a criminal deterrant for me---I have been so ANGRY with my quit :eg:) However, there are some real and concerning side-effects for some people...try a wellbutrin 'vacation' and compare... Shazza, In any case, you should probably keep your doctor abreast of any side effects you may be having as a result of using this medication. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team
