Reward yourself everytime you think of smoking and don't smoke. (gourmet coffee, a mint, a piece of gum, a sticker that says 'way to go', etc.) At the end of a non smoking day reward yourself with a movie rental, a bubble bath, etc. At the end of a smoke free week reward yourself with a pedicure, haircut, dinner out, etc. REWARD YOURSELF A LOT. Get use to rewarding yourself ... this is what non smokers do ... they love theirselves ... they take care of theirselves. Smoking is not a reward. Hi Wackydog. I hope you are doing good today. I hope that you will not take anything said to you here in this thread as negative or as a personal attack of any kind. Because it isn't, it really isn't. Everyone that responded wants to see you succeed. If they didn't they would not have taken the time to post. No one can ever say the right thing, totally understand, read minds or situations, or have the exact perspective 100% of the time. And any response to our cries are or that helps us is neither here nor there. What is important is that we all try to reach out to one another to help & support. What feels supportive to one person may not to another. Remember ... take from each post what helps you and leave the rest. And that includes this one. I hope you have a great day Wackydog. Wacky, No need to apologize, quitting is stressful and we completely understand! Sounds like you've given this a lot of thought and I think you're on the right track. Substitutions, replacements, distractions and rewards will help get you through the coming weeks. Don't be too hard on yourself. Smoking was a big part of your life. Keep in mind this is a huge learning experience and as you keep practicing your new routines, it will get easier. Keep us posted and let us know if we can help. wacky, You are putting yourself through Hell over, and over, and over again! Once the nicotene is in your syatem, it makes it that much harder to justify NOT picking up that cig again. Just one, and then one more, etc.......... You have got to want to NOT smoke, more than you want to smoke. Only then, can you have a real, true shot at your quit. Get in touch with youself, and quit allowing yourself a smoke for relief. You know how damaging one cig is. You can get through anything, and I mean anything, without a cig. But you have to want that, deep down inside of you. You can do this. Get real, and buckle down in your quit. And make this YOUR quit ~ noone elses. Let us know how you are doing.
