Hi my name is Nikole. I'm 22 yrs. and I've been taking the zoloft for over a year now almost 2 years. The doctor has me taking a 150 mgs.that is 3 x's of you regular dosage.I do still have extreme panic attacks and agoraphobia but I can cope with it alittle better now while I'm on this medication I too was afraid to take to take meds until things in my mind got so bad i really had no other choice or live with the misery constantly. e mail me at Quitit389@aol.com
I took Zoloft for 2 years - 50 mg per day - and was panic free. But it does take a while to get used to the medication, I noticed that I was a little more shaky and had disrupted sleeping patterns for the first 6 weeks or so, but my body got used to the zoloft (and not panicking all the time) and eventually settled down.
Panic disorder disrupts nearly all your body's systems and when you throw a new med on top of it you can expect it to take a while to get back to "normal". I know I expected the zoloft to be an instant cure, but it simply doesn't work that way.
But it really will get better! Just keep contact with your doc and try to be patient as your body readjusts
Hi Want to be free,
Thanks for responding to my post!
I am sorry you are having such a hard time with the panic attacks. :(
It sounds like I was about 5-6 months ago and my doc put me on a benxo named Xanax. It really worked well but benxo's are habit forming and addictive and if you do ok with the Zoloft (one of many SSRI's I tried and couldnt take- it HIGHTENED my anxiety and I was having more panic than I did before taking it- happened about 14 days into it on .25mgs) then you should stick with the SSRI's instead of benzos.
This is the second day off the prozac and I feel so much better I cant even tell you. I guess the SSRI family just wasnt for me- I really hope they work for you!! They DO work for a lot of people so hang in there and if you need someone to talk to, I'm here. If you want the email addy, just let me know. :)
Keep your chin up!
Remember to say "AS IF!!!" (Like "AS IF YOU CAN HURT ME!) to the symptoms instead of "WHAT IF..."
Take care,
Beth
Hi there. I took Zoloft with great success for nearly 10 years. Off for several months, and starting back on tonight. Being of anxious nature, I'm anxious about taking it, of course! Maybe we can keepeachother posted on the progress. I'm taking 25mg tonight with dinner. Hope all is well with you today!
my dr. has put me on zoloft 25mg for the first week and then upping my dosage to 50mg a day. so far so good where the side affects go. only one so far has been being kind of sleepy. ive noticed that after i take it i feel a little nervous and jittery. is this normal and what can i expect when my doseage is higher?i had a panic attack again this a m about an hour before i got up to face the day. HATE it when i do this. tried to turn over in bed and forget it. finally went away thank god. am soooo tired of them. sure hope the zoloft helps.
