Attitude...

Hi there! I couldn't agree more with the difference your attitude about quitting, or anything for that matter, can make. When I decided to quit, it was the day after my 30th birthday, and I just woke up and said to myself, I WANT to quit and I'm READY to quit. I have a very supportive boyfriend, who quit years ago. Moreover, I've been wanting this for a long time and when the time came I grabbed it, and I'm not ever letting go. Exercising is my release. Exercising used to be something that I absolutley dreaded doing, but now it's easier and it makes me feel so good. I'm very proud of myself and everyone that posts on this site. Life is too short to keep thinking about how bad you feel.....condition yourself so that you don't feel like you are depriving yourself of anything, because you're not. Instead you're gaining life!! Go out there and do the things you've always wanted to do. Enjoy your health! PS - I love the way that my hair smells like my shampoo and conditioner all day long :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 262 Amount Saved: $68 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 50 Seconds: 23

I think each time I tried to quit, it was for everyone or everything else but for me. Tho I had the right attitude and all of the rigth reasons, the 'Just Because It Is For Me' was nowhere in the cards. I am so use to doing stuff for everyone else, family, friends, neighbors but somehow I always seem to get lost in the shuffle. I always felt I was at the bottom of the totem pole. This time, I made a vow for me. ME. ME. ME!! Even when I get angry and grumpy, I toss up my hands to my husband and tell him to do it himself. He is 44 and he can cook dinner, wash clothes, help w/ the kids/ homeowrk, etc. If I am going to kick butts, then I must muster all of the energy I have to kick the butts. And tho the support is here and waiting for me, this has to be my decision and my strength to do it alone. And w/ everyone here, rooting and cheering us on, that gives me a little bit more energy to fight the nicodemon that seems to plague all of us. Life is a little bit easier when there is someone walking beside me, holding my hand, and guiding me. *flops down on bench and drinks her coffee* =) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 114 Amount Saved: $22 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 4 Seconds: 22

How true pinktexas. The attititude part is necessary, especially the way duckie explained. Need to do it for ourselves. A line I keep reminding myself of is from the movie Shawshank Redemption, Tim Robbins is talking to Morgan Freeman after twenty years in prison he says "get busy living, or get busy dying". That's the way I feel about not smoking and smoking. My attitude became get busy living. Hi pinktexas - We have amazing power in what we bring into our lives, and into our Quits. We can make it difficult or we can have a gentle hand with ourselves and with our lives! So very much is in our powerful hands. What we choose to do - how we react is a choice - attitude has everything to do with it. There's a great deal of power in that!! You're doing beautifully, dear one. It is amazing the difference an attitude adjustment makes. Last week I decided that I was going to get off my pity party that I was having and make the most of my days. With a few work outs and some vitamins I really do feel like a new person. I know there are others out there that feel the same way. What we think about we bring about...it is something I really started thinking about. So I changed my thought process to positive things...feels GREAT!!! I am striving for success now in all aspects of my life. Just kind of wanted to know the small changes that others have made that have made a HUGE difference in their quit. I truly believe knowledge is power and the more we share what works for us the more power we give others. We are on this journey together so lets hold hands and help each other as much as we can!!!
