The neurologist said I have benign tingling from nerves and sometimes spinal misalignment. She prescribed Elavil for the pain and anxiety. It'a also supposed to help insomnia. I'm starting on 5 mg for 2 wks, then 10, then 15, etc. since I'm pretty sensitive to drugs.
Thanks for the tips. I have had my thyroid checked and it's normal. I'm seeing a neurologist today about it. Maybe she'll have some ideas. I'll check into that book as well. THanks again.
Hello - I experienced tingling in my hands and feet when I became hypothyroid, and my mother experienced it when she was low on B12, so you should perhaps have those things investigated. Also, I really recommend the book
Say Goodnight to Insomnia: The Six-Week, Drug-Free Program Developed at Harvard
Medical School Gregg D. Jacobs, Herbert Benson (Introduction)
for sleep problems. You can order it from Amazon. I had really bad sleep problems until I followed this program and I'd tried heaps of other books before it. Good luck!
That's what I was thinking, too, since I normally take the valerian and it's worked pretty well for me for years. THis week, though, since I'm off the herbs and vits, I may need a little Ambien. I'm trying not to take too much. I see my psych on Thursday, hopefully, she'll have some insights, too. I'm really afraid of the SSRI's since that Lexapro made me sooo sick I could barely function.
I have trouble sleeping as well but I stick to the over the counter sleep aids. Be careful with Ambien. It€™s not really a sleep aid but how it works is you take it every night for a week or so and it re-teaches your body how to sleep, it isn€™t designed for long-term use in any way and if you are on it too long you may find yourself needing it to sleep. If you want a sleep aid I would go with something else.
I have had no major attacks since I learned what they were over a month ago. I've been on Xanax and I tried Lexapro, but it made me sick. I've also been using herbs and vitamins to support my body and female cycle for several months. Since I went off my birth control, I've been getting tingling in my head, neack and arms. I went off all herbs and vitamins yesterday. Unfortunately, I usually take a Vareian combo at bedtime. I couldn't take it, so I took 1/4 Ambien. I slept very little and wound up taking a 1/4 Xanax (.25 mg) at 4am. I am very sensitive to the drugs, so a little goes a long way, even though my doc said I can take up to 2 tabs. The valerian has been working for me for years, but I need to test this tingling thing. Does anyone else have to take Xanax to sleep? I'm thinking about combining it with 1/4-1/2 Ambien (5 mg.), which the doctor told me I can take a whole one if I need it. Is anyone else experiencing sleep troubles? I seem to wake up tired all the time. Am I going to get hooked on this stuff, because I hate the idea of taking drugs if I don't have to, especially if they're addicting.
