OK Wacky, today is my quit date. Oct. 16. You are only a few days ahead of me. How did your weekend go? I know this isn't easy, however, if I looked ahead any more than one craving at a time, I'd go bonkers!!! I've done this many times before, and I'm determined that this will be my last quit. Oh sure, it won't be easy, but I'll get there, we all can. Hang in there Wacky, and keep on posting. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Do what ever you need to just do not smoke. You can reward yourself every hour if you need to. Take out your frustrations on a walk, run or do something physical...it does help the anxiety and anger. My hubby quit with me also and he is still smoking a few a day. I understand you being angry and sniping at him. But we all know the only ones we can control is ourselves. And we know the more we nag sometimes people just do the opposite atleast my hubby does. So I shut up and started putting stop smoking books in his favorite place in the house....the bathroom. And slowly he has been reading it and wanting to not smoke at all. As for your slip your quit is your quit. I slipped at a bar 3 weeks ago and I did not start my meter over...I am moving forward and doing damn good!!! wackydog, either you want it or you don't, my husband smokes more then a cupple a day and yes I was a b**ch in the begining and maybe if you were to talk to him today he would say I have my satanic out burst but I also know he would say good Job. I have really put my mind around this quit and I am at 40 days, and proud of myself for it. I had to set my meter back and start over after 22 days into my quit because I sliped and it was not ok for me to live the lie of the meter not being set back for me it did not help me but everyone is differant. A slip is a slip you either smoke or you don't and that is the bottom line on that one no grey areas here. I hope you can really think about what you want and figure it out, It has not been easy for any of us but it does get better. Wackydog, Sorry if I'm the one to be blunt and honest here, but I see some serious flaws with your "quit" strategy.
Monday was a bit better. I shared a couple with him, but didn't light up any of my "own" smokes.
I don't know about you, but to me, that's still smoking. You are either quit or you are not... there is no in between. There is no "sharing a couple with him" if you want to quit. If you're not ready to quit yet, then step back and take some time to figure this quit out for yourself, but to convince yourself that you are quit when you are actually having a few here and there is a dangerous thing and will most definitely lead you right back to smoking if you let it.
I did fine up until an opportunity to smoke came up.
There will ALWAYS be opportunities to smoke! I've been completely smoke-free for almost a year now and I STILL run into opportunities to smoke every single day. Not a day goes by that I couldn't have a cig if I wanted one. The thing with quitting is that you MUST learn to deal with those "smoking opportunities" when they come up. You can't just run from them and then blame your smoking on the fact that you had the opportunity to. It doesn't work that way. YOU are responsible for YOUR quit - don't worry about your husband's quit or non-quit as the case may be. In my opinion, if he's smoking a few a day, he's not quit either. Quit means NOPE - Not One Puff Ever. You cannot smoke and still be quit. That's my opinion. Take what you want and leave the rest. Crave the Quit! wackydog, I'm not criticizing you at all for smoking on days 1 and 2. I know how hard it is to become smoke free and any minute or hour that you go smoke free is an accomplishment. I think you misunderstood what I was saying... I wasn't trying to be critical or harsh, but I was merely saying that if you start to "reward" yourself with a cigarette whenever you are feeling stressed, then you are very likely to continue that in the future. In order to quit, smoking must not be an option. It sounds like you're well on your way now... you had a slow start, but what's important is that you ARE started now and that you are doing really well. Just keep that up! I completely understand that the emotional part of quitting is by far, hands down, the most difficult part of quitting. The physical effects are nothing compared to the emotional turmoil that can accompany it. So please don't think that I'm being hard on you for having a rough time with the quit... believe me, I know how hard it can be. It sounds like you're doing an awesome job now! Keep it up! Crave the Quit! Wackydog, you have to commit if you want to become a non-smoker, so if you're not ready right now, work the tools and read more posts, get the determination to do this and you will succeed :)One day at a time Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,599 Amount Saved: $424 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 1 Mins: 31 Seconds: 55
