Well, I've made it thru 26 hrs 56 minutes....... Today was a lttle touch and go. Kept busy working most of the morning. But after lunch I was at a loss. So, I just went back to bed. I'm hoping I can sleep a lot in the next two days because I know the first three days are the wicked part. Went out for a sundae tonight - the chocolate helped. But, I am trying to stay away from sweets. So, I found celery and carrots to be a good grab and go replacement. I have them all ready in the fridge - cut up and in containers so I can just grab a handful. I found that whenever my mind thinks its time to light up, I just get up and do something else - change the scene, change the activity, whatever it takes to move my thought process along in another direction. I feel like I know all the "right" things to do and for the most part I am doing them - what's right for me anyhow. But this is still difficult and I really feel like &*$%. Hi CJ, I love the sundeas too! I have one every night after dinner. The middle has expanded a little but I find that the sundeas really make me feel better. For now I don't feel like worrying about the weight...just need to get through the quit. I plan on treating myself and joining the YMCA in a few months...a friend of mine works there and she will be my personal trainer for a month. It is a little expensive but with the money I am saving on smoking I decided should be put towards something to make me healthier. It will get easier so STAY STRONG and remember...N.O.P.E. CJ, Congratulations on making it through your first day! You're utilizing a good strategy, just don't forget to reward yourself for resisting cravings and accomplishing yet another smoke free day. Those rewards are essentiel to making you feel better throughout those first few weeks. Keep us posted, Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi CJ - You are doing great... Yes, it's hard - really hard. But it's doable. Just take it one moment at a time, and read old posts here - that just helps alot as there are so many who have shared their journeys and their challenges - and there are great coping skills here too. Stay close to this site, and post often. We just started a new group that's really growing - if you have SSC messenger and you'd like to join us, I'm on messenger afternoons and evenings (off and on) or you can IM Cobenfan... (all are invited to join and we have permission to mention this here :) Let us know how you're doing. Keep up the great work CJ!!! I quit smoking on July 6, 2006 at 6:00pm. It has been 1 week, 16 hours, 3 minutes, and 34 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit smoking, I would have: * Smoked 153 cigarettes (That's like smoking a 51 foot long cigarette) * Spent $32.82 on cigarettes * Inhaled 1.53 grams of tar * Inhaled 122 mg of nicotine (That's like doing 2,301 hits of nicotine) * Inhaled 1.69 grams of carbon monoxide * Taken an additional 22 hours, 41 minutes, and 42 seconds off my life

hi cj....my first day too...ugh. I found a neat 'oral' thing ...I pick berries, raspberrys last nite, (you can buy of course), then freeze them on a cookie sheet. They stay whole, not mushy, and make a great sweet and healthy snack and help with the whole hand/mouth issue. good luck :)
