Feeling angry

Hi Marie - Thanks for the belated birthday greetings! It was a fun day. Sometimes we feel like such a witch that it begins to be comical. I tried to make a joke out of it after a while...I hung a sign around my neck with yarn that said something like: I'm sorry for the thousandth time...but I will not give in! so deal with it... My husband didn't think it was so funny at first but as we went along he began to see the humor. I just was so tired of being a tape recorded - I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry...blah, blah, blah. After a while it didn't even sound real and the truth of the matter was it probably wasn't. He was and is still smoking and I was so mad about that - but I had to understand that this is my life and my quit and I am the only one who needs to understand and deal with it. I promise it does get better. You are in the midst of the beginning of a great way of life. You are learning more about yourself than you ever have known before. We need to learn how to replace angry outburst with another outlet. It's very hard! But please tell your husband how hard this is and ask for his continuing understanding and forgiveness. It's an emotional ride - full of ups and downs. My favorite illustration is one of the ocean. The waves come into the shore...there are some waves that we jump over easily, some waves we have to dive in and come up on the other side...and then there are some waves that are so strong that we are knocked down...but we get up and start all over again - after all - we don't want to get out of the water over a few strong waves. So don't lose your quit over those strong waves...it will get better I promise! Celebrate Your Freedom!
O' Holy crap! Some...body needs a nap! O' Holy crap! Some.....body needs a nap!
That's what my little boy used to sing to me. ;) Marie, you can be pleased with your progress. You've come so far and are getting closer and closer to feeling normal again. Don't let a bump in the road worry you. Continue your journey taking a few rest stops along the way to pamper yourself. Some days are mountains and some days are valleys. The important thing is to just keep moving. No matter how crappy you feel, at least you are not sucking carcinogens into your lungs every 30 minutes 20 times a day. You can be very proud of yourself. Oh Marie, I grew so tired of apologizing all the time. Sometimes bad times just hit us and we have to ride them out. Be good to yourself...don't beat yourself up. Find ways to make yourself happy. This will pass!
