Hi Jackie! I have to agree with Kingsford -- I make jewelry ;D And it really is a great way for me to "get outside my head" and create jewelry - I do love it and find it really relaxing and enjoyable. Especially when I make "mother's bracelets" It always makes me smile, and when I give it to the mother and she sees her child(ren)'s names on her wrist, well, she is delighted!! Or when I am making a bride's set ;D I do have to admit, that I do not know much about the healing properties of semi-precious stones (I use a lot of vintage beads and crystals)....but there is a lot of information out there on them. Just go to any search enging and put it gem stone properties, or something like that, and you will get much information! If you decide to make a necklace or any piece of jewelry, please feel free to ask me if you should have any question. Take care, Victoria

Jackie, Hi. I am new here and reading posts here and there. (There is so much.)I wanted to share with you and anyone else who has a hard time "stopping" like I do. My counselor had been telling me for a long time that I need to sit and meditate daily. She says it is what saved her many years ago when she was agorophobic. I told her "I can't stop and clear my mind" and she always swore by her tapes. She says they "saved" her. So finally I bought a couple (cd's now) and they really are great in helping those of us who cannot just turn it all off. At first it was hard to find that moment where I would decide, "ok, pull out the cd..." but now that I have I look forward to it. It is really a wonderful feeling to STOP and slow it all down right there in the middle of the day and it helps so much to be guided with the music and the imagery. I have to say, the second day (I have only been able to stop long enough to listen once or twice)started out like an anxious day. I needed to get to the store, but sometimes I just can't deal with it. So, an hour or so after listening, my mind and body had been so calmed, I went! Oh, I still was my little "what if" self, with a little nervousness, but in the morning I had decided, "no way, not today." Good luck. I know we have such a hard time relaxing don't we? Hi Jackie! I'm not sure if this would be of any interest to you or not, but over my winter break my grandmother taught me how to crochet. I am currently making a scarf and I work on it mainly in the evening before I go to sleep while listening to a relaxing cd. It seems to help me unwind and since I'm not exactly a pro I have to concentrate on the stitches and it takes my mind off all my worries. I think I will also try the necklace idea as well! Take care, Marie

Hi Jackie, Have you ever made a necklace? I think it's a rewarding and relaxing escape. A bead store can be overwhelming but give your self time to slowly look over everything and some sales reps can be extremely helpful. It's good to go when the store isn't too crowded. Some stones can actually have energies that can help target relaxation. In particular, if you find a beautiful peace of Lapis Lazuli (indigo blue) maybe mix it with some turqouise and peridot, you may accomplish a piece that can help with the following: Lapis-Improves expression, eases stress, dispels depression Turqouise-builds strength, provides protection, helps communication (looks great with lapis :) Peridot-extends patience, sharpens clarity, calms nerves Pyrite- eases stress and frustration, dispels anxiety and depression I have The Crystal Handbook by Kevin Sullivan which is pretty informative. Lavender promotes relaxtion as well
