Paxil and Inderal

Inderal is a medication that's used for a couple of things. It really depends on your own doctor's wisdom and knowledge of your medical history. As usual, it would be best to consult your doctor as to the reasons behind his prescribing one in particular over the other. -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator

I did the same thing: Paxil and Xanex. Paxil really doesn't kick into your system and work for about 4 weeks, so up until then, the Xanex was kind of the "instant help" I was needing. My assumption would be that Inderal works the same way as the Xanex, but I would check some place like WebMD.com to learn more.

RY I take Paxil (10 mg) a day and Xanax when I feel any panic attacks feelings. I don't know about Inderal. It's better to check with your doctor. I was in a very bad state of mind last automn and now, with the help of Paxil...I'am back to work and doing quite well. At times, I never thought I would feel better but looking back at the last 5 months...I've come a long way ! Paxil has side effects and they say it's horrible when you get off Paxil but for me...up to now...it's saving my life ! Take care. Lavic

Hello everyone...I'm new here so I wasn't 100% sure where to post this question... I started suffering from anxiety and panic attacks back in 1993 when I returned to College for 1 year. The year ended and I never thought of them again. Over the years I've had battles with depression and grief and have been on medication and gone for therapy...all with fairly decent results. I also have a supportive family which of course helps. Recently (end of Nov.) the anxiety and panic attacks returned in a big way and have happened many times since. My psychologist recommended Inderal and explained that I only take it when I feel an attack coming on. My GP (general practitioner) disagreed and put me on Paxil which of course I have to take everyday (which I don't like). So I've been on 20mg of Paxil for almost a week and I hate the side affects but thought I'd stick with it to give it a chance. So...my question is, (even though I know this isn't really a diagnosis/recommendation type forum); Does anyone know if it's possible to take Paxil on a daily basis and still take Inderal when a panic attack starts to hit? Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Ry
