I know what you mean... Its your mind saying, I have done 10 mins work, now time for a reward, we are so used to rewarding ourselves throughout the day, we feel like we are really missing out if we have breaks without rewards. Come here and post instead. Thats what i do, I find it works. Ann, you finally put it in perspective. I have felt so alone the last couple weeks, but nothing was externally different - same people at work, at home, etc. Dynamics haven't changed. The only thing that has changed is that I am not smoking. I have lost my friend that was always there and always knew what to say! Now that I have written that out, I realize how stupid it sounds, but that is how it felt! Now I have to find a new "friend" - one that will not kill me and those around me!

Agreeing with nicks.. I am also used with rewarding myself with a cigarette.. In fact.. cigarettes acts as rewards, friends, comfort, celebrations, etc etc. everything with emotions... No wonder why we get so emotional when quitting.. Hi all, There is so much positive vibe from this thread lets all say together DIE NICODEMON... at least we are all ahead of the game, we are trying to get back to the state we were in before we became addicts, i know thats aloooooooooooooooong time ago, but we wern't born with a cigi in our mouth, so buried somewhere deep in our subconcious mind is an US as a nonsmoker, lets all dig deep and find that person again, and yes this addiction SUCKS, SUCKS i say that everyday, and then read some of the long term quitters posts, because it can be BEAT...its right we have to build more and more non smoking memories, cigi's were never our friend and the only reward is QUITTING. Say it out loud I AM A NON SMOKER... hanging tough jeanigirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $52.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 14 Seconds: 4

We are doing a lot of remodeling ourselves. Fill that break time with other non smoking activities. Put non-smoking memories on top of smoking memories. It will get better. Believe. Nicks & Aekvall Very right, you did reward yourself with a cigarette which is why it's important to integrate a reward system into your quit plan. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for after each day and a larger one for the end of each week. Because the physiologic & psychological effects of these rewards aren't as consuming as nicotine, you'll find as your quit becomes easier, you won't need to reward yourself as often. Keep persevering, Danielle _____________________________________ The Habitrol Support Team

ex-slave, I understand completely what you mean. Housework to me, as well as office work, should be broken by smoke breaks- in my sadly, twisted, demented mind. Heck! I didn't even open the mail this week b/c the mail, in my mind, should be opened with a cig. My family is going to find me months from now surrounded by piles of mail, but not smoking. ;p Sorry about the suck feeling My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $52 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 55 Seconds: 16

I know what you mean. Lol~! It's amazing how something so bad for us can occupy so much of our lives...our thoughts...our attention - oooh oooh, pick me, pick ME! The answer is NO! Next time the Nicodemon bugs you, imagine the little butt-face begging at your feet for attention...and Squash it! Just stomp on the ground as if you're smashing the Nicodemon back to the smokey hell from whence it came!!! Bwaaahahahahha! May the Quit be with us. carpepax My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 278 Amount Saved: $345.1 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 25 Seconds: 27
