I wake up in the middle of the night, too, and panic and feel like I'm going to die, but then I'm ok in the morning. I blame it on my current comfort food/pre-Christmas diet, though. I'm better if I eat less but regularly. I find if I eat large meals late in the day I wake up in the night and feel bloated, which is kind of similar to a panic, the chest feels tight and you can't breathe properly.
I know I should stick to a healthier diet but find it very hard at the moment with the long dark evenings and all the party food around.
