Nice one auntie, surviving the weekend no mean feat for sure. I must say my cravings hit hardest when I'm having a beer. Choices for me are: No beer = sucky or. Remind myself that if I can get past these cravings, the others are pale in comparison and that I'm well on the way to being how I was when I was 15 and knew not the evils of smoking. The worst part may well be over for you. keep posting and good luck the rest of the week. keep it up My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 189 Amount Saved: 45 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 51 Seconds: 6

Hiya Auntie :) Way to go :) You should never have doubted yourself :) you knew you could do it. I came accross some hard candy (sugarfree off course) minty ones. During the first week i would have a pack a day now ive weened myself down to one every 3 days lol. When i find the craving wave ready to crash down, i distract myself, i post in here, i read posts in here. I play computer games, just do things that will take my thoughts away from the craving. I dont crave a lot now tho, it does get easier and easier :) Hope you have a wonderful day :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 304 Amount Saved: $132.6 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 32 Seconds: 51

Can't believe it's day 3 again for me already. I survived the weekend, hope you all did too. The cigarettes I miss the most are first thing in the morning and after dinner in the evening. This is when I really feel tested. I find puffing on a piece of a drinking straw and a piece of sugar-free hard candy help some. How about you, which ones do you miss the most and how do you fight the cravings? Have a great Monday Love, Auntie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 99 Amount Saved: $22.12 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 26 Seconds: 3

Hi Auntie the one I miss the most is the first one in the morning, when you are a long period without nicotine. It sure was a rush in the am ( addict) I still miss it, less and less, so time will do the job I have faith. Congrats 3 days are the worse and they're behind you way to go. One day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 41 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 622 Amount Saved: $164 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 28

Might I make a suggestion? Maybe this will help someone. Do not concentrate on missing cigarettes. It will only reinforce the feeling of being deprived of something in your brain. I know it is only a matter of words, but what we tell ourselves is very important to our subconscious. Instead focus on identifying the smoking memory/trigger and what you are going to do to create a non-smoking memory. When we know in advance what circumstances/emotions/etc. trigger a smoking memory we can be prepared to combat it immediately so that the memory does not turn into a full blown crave. The sooner we spend our time creating non smoking memories instead of fighting cravings the easier and happier our quits become. If this helps you ... great! If not, just ignore. Auntie, I missed the one I smoked driving in the car. I drive an hour and a half to work. At first, I would sing along with the music in my car, or chew on a cinnamon stick, or drink ice cold water. Then it got to be just take a few deep breaths, then it mostly doesn't bother me anymore. Cheryl This would be a good discussion for the General Forum, you might want to try posting it there. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 385 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,245 Amount Saved: $1097.25 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 9 Mins: 0 Seconds: 58
