Just finished dinner...feeling a lot of anxiety

I hate to eat right now and I feel like I ate too much and am really having a serious craving. I am breathing deeply but the heavy feeling on my chest is bad. I went to the stupid doctor today, which I actually felt like taking a gun to him by the time he was finished. I explained what my husband went through when he quit and he called us a bunch of cigarette fiends. And the IDIOT used to be a smoker and I thought he would have more compassion. He did give me a perscription for Xanax. My husband was on Ativan, Ambien and Wellbutrin for over a month when he quit smoking. Time to find a new doctor. I took the patch off too, I don't want to go through the withdrawal symtoms again when I stop using the patch. I am looking into something called Laser Concept...anyone know anthing about laser treatment? I am going to go try my meditation tape and will check back in a little. My boss is being great, I haven't been to work in a week and when I called her this afternoon to tell her I will make it in tomorrow, she said she only wanted me to work for about 3 hours and didn't want me stressed out. She is an ex-smoker and I have a feeling she will be one of my many lifesavers on the days when I am unable to get online. Any advice for tonight would be appreciated. I don't want to be on here at 11:30 crying my eyes out. Talk soon. Darcy

Hi Darcy, I hope that things got better for you last night. I find it hardest at night too, but I dont know why. The only reason that i can think of is because i cannot really smoke in the day at work, so after work, I just go crazy. Keep going, you are doing brilliant! If I can do this, you can too! Keep breathing. I remember that heavy feeling in my chest/tummy, just breathe. Walk, chew gum, drink water, shower, do dishes, vacuum, scrub, run, anything to get your mind off of this. That was my biggest battle, keeping busy. I have been pretty sedentary for my whole life so actually doing something was a new concept. Boy was my house clean for the first couple weeks, after that I just got used to not smoking. I still keep busy but you don't have to try so hard after a while! Hang in there....keep busy! Are you doing okay Darcy? I am about to cash in for the night but I want you to know that you are strong and you can get through this. Hold on to your quit, for dear life. When you start putting some days smoke free behind you, your confidence grows each day! It makes you stronger and better prepared to fight the cravings. This will get better, it really will! STAY STRONG! C-ya in the morning, smoke free!
