I hear ya, I've been doing so well.. on day 3 and not having any intense cravings until I got this email from a professor tearing apart my Honors Thesis that I am supposed present on Thursday and I need his "vote" to pass through. When I read it, I just started crying. Here I am trying so hard not to light up, to do the right thing, to get myself together... and this email sent me into an emotional tailspin - elevated my stress level to the nth degree... and I wanted a fricking cigarette then. But, I am not going to have one. I am going to eat some carrot stix and cry myself to another unrestful night! Do you ever feel like people should be extra nice to you when you've quit? I want special treatment please!!

Things did eventually slow down a little this week. And I hit my two-month mark at 9 p.m. last night. Thanks everybody for your thoughts. I'm just going to have to find ways to take breaks. But it's friday now, thank goodness. Have a lovely smoke free weekend, everyone. So it's wednesday and I've worked about 36 hours already, with long days still to go. This is the kind of week where I'd be smoking my head off. I don't feel like smoking my head off, but those comparitively tiny little cravings are getting really intense because I haven't had time to breathe right, haven't had time to sleep right, haven't had time to eat right, haven't had time to shop for conditioner and I'm out of everything, and ack ack ack!!! I'm just having a spastic week and I can't use cigarettes to relax at the end of these terribly long days. I'm so appreciative that I don't smell bad and I'm so happy that I'm not spending my money on cigarettes and I'm so glad I can breathe, but I'm craving, craving because my hassle-stress level, my can-I-really-do-this-job stress level, my god-I-need-a-nap stress level -- they're all through the roof! I smelled a room full of smokers today. not a cigarette lit but the smell of their stale smoke was almost unbearable. How can I be wanting a cigarette? I hate cigarettes with passion! But I need something here, and a break doesn't look like it's coming. this is so HARD. I need a different job. quitter, since the days do end at some point, there are other things you can do to relax. A wonderful fragrant hot bubble bath comes to mind. Beautiful relaxing music. Candles. You might also think about taking breaks during the day. If you were still smoking, you would be taking breaks. Well, you still should take breaks. Go for a walk outside. Smell the fresh air. Look up at the clouds. Sit down somewhere and breathe deeply. Try to empty your mind for a few minutes and escape. You can do this -- you've come so far!!!
