Hey LG ! Welcome ! I'm sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. 40 days is awesome ! I would love to be 40 days in. You know, I am 17 days in, I think, and it really doesn't bother me much anymore. I still have nags tha come out of the blue.. I never anticipate them. But one thing I don't do is to think about smoking. I put it completely away and do n ot give it any of my time. If I get a craving (for me it is looking around for soemthing) I just do something else immediately and forget it. I think not dwelling makes it easier. Disown it.. hate it.. give it no respect and no time. It was giving you quick highs but, remember it was robbing you everytime you smoked. Grand plan was your death.. slow and painful. This pusher doesn't want to leave, so you must insist and kick his butt out ! You can do this.. and one day, this will be a bad memory and nothing more. So many years of smoking.. habit is there for sure.. just got to change it. Hang Tuff ! Hi LG, Congrats on your 40 days! And welcome to SSC. It sure makes beating the Nicodemon a lot easier. Hope to hear more from you, and oh, don't feel like a downer, please. If something is on your mind share it. It is better to get it out in the open then to keep it bottled up inside which will lead to stress. You'll always find an open ear here. Gaby P.S. Gosh a walk on the boardwalk sounds great right now. Just wished it wasn't so bloody cold here. THank you Rusty, & Missyfit. After I wrote my post I went out for a walk. I have been punishing myself for stopping smoking. In forty days I have put on 10 pounds. Oh gosh if I keep this up I'll have to buy a rhinestone store to cover my granny-panties. So I took a walk on the boardwalk and started doing some renewing of the mind. A baby step at a time. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, ..... hate when u hit the wrong button Anyways as I was saying.... Before I found this site I really had a terrible time with my quit. The anger was so much that I kept doing this out of body thing and going to myself "who are you" I was so angery with myself for quiting. I couldn't for the life of me think of any good reason why I did. Things like living longer, my health, my children, my husband, my grandchildren none of those things would come into mind. Yet I have this determination inside of me to not pick up. In my 30 some years of smoking I have only quit twice before. One lasted four months (about 18 yr ago) and the other was about 2 yrs ago for 7 weeks. This time was so much harder, can I say I don't think I have another quit in me and have anyone understand what I'm saying when I say that? I'm not always good about writing things down and saying what I'm feeling and going through. Others say it so well and the with such grace. I just want to say thank you to sooooo many of you for your support and kind words and your kick in the butt words. I know I have only been here a week yet in this last week I know I didn't pick back up because I found out I was not alone and there truly are others out there who care and really go all out to help each other just get through. Again thank you Laurie ^I^ My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 808 Amount Saved: $160 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 16 Mins: 45 Seconds: 12

LG, Congratulations on making it 35 days on your own...and the rest of your quit with the SSC! It truly does make a difference. Most of us have been through this stuff so don't feel like "being a downer" should keep you from posting. We can relate and we're glad to have you along... Besides, who else can we talk with about such fashion as rhinestones on granny panties? (that visual still cracks me up) :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 381 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,629 Amount Saved: $1360.17 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 9 Mins: 22 Seconds: 9

Laurie, I responded on your other thread, but I do want to say yes, I know exactly what you mean. My quit was more emotional than physical, and I was totally unprepared for that. I guess most people suffer more from the physical aspects of quitting since there doesn't seem to be too much info on dealing with anger, mood swings, etc, especially once you leave the "early" phases. I had counseling, and did a lot of self-work, and stayed close here. It's been a wild ride but I do finally feel like a non-smoker. And I also feel quite certain that I cannot go through this again, that I don't have another quit in me, and that's part of what keeps me smokefree. It doesn't matter how well you write -- we all understand what you mean. And that's what makes this site so great!
