Hi all, it's funny but the other day I logged on and took a quick look at my stats.. it was like stepping through a time portal. It has only been about two months since my last smoke but it felt like many more ! When I'm caught up in a crave, and mine are very mild and of short duration, I find myself thinking it will go on forever . Or, how many more months do I have to endure this ? Gee after 40 years of puffing away one would think I'd have a better perspective on this ? I have often thought it odd and a bit self -centered when others after two or three days without smoking wondered "when will this end" ? Well, welcome to my personal time distortion ! Once the reality hit and I has a better view of me and my addiction I could see this ain't that bad. Most of my time is spent 100% free of craving and in good comfort. A very good trade off. I can also breath again. Thanks to you all. Ah, yes. Quitting's temporal distortions. The first two weeks take roughly six months. The next two weeks only take about 3 months. Now you've spent nine months reaching the first month quit. The second month takes about another two months, but the third is pretty much real time. So now you're a year into your three month quit. Then somewhere during the next three months the distortion reverses. Nobody has ever been able to define when (such is the nature of these things). One day you realize you've been quit for six months and you wonder how you got there so fast! And you'll smile. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 238 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,771 Amount Saved: $904.4 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 11 Mins: 21 Seconds: 5

Hi Webster, Congrats on your two months quit! This post is really important for many new quitters. We often ask how long will this last? It's different for everyone. You can't kick a 10, 20, 30, or 40 year habit in a week or a month. That is so important to stress! Have patience with your quit. You'll see that in time the cravings get less and less intense. Be kind to yourself.
