Hi BrittG,

It sounds to me like you need to work on getting the right medications. I wrote the post just before this one and let everyone know what I had to go through to get the correct medication. I have been trying things since April. I would suggest, as ~m did, that you see your GP. She may know more to help you out. Being just Ok is not where you have to stay. It can get even better but it may take awhile.

Working through the program here is a great place to find coping strategies and help you start to feel better. It takes awhile so be patient and do the homework. In a few weeks, you'll see a difference. The forums are great to ask questions and everyone here is here to either help or because they are going through Depression as well.

Keep going ,
Rowsie

Hello BrittG,

Sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time with a setback at work. Know that small setbacks are common, it is important to get back on track when you encounter one of these and take the steps necessary to get back to your new positive reference point you had created.

As ~m mentioned it would be highly recommended to re-evaluate the medication dosages with your physician or healthcare professional.

I would also recommend working through our online program as there is a full session dealing with setbacks.
Members, can anyone shed some light on how you've successfully dealt with setbacks in the past?

Hi BrittG... I'm sorry you are having troubles and feeling so down.  It sounds like it would be a really good time to re-evaluate your meds with a psychiatrist or other professional who has experience with psychotropic medications.  Sometimes GPs or OBGYNs mean well but don't have the experience a pdoc has.  Are you interested in working the CBT program here too or just looking for information on medications?

I was first prescribed 50 mg of Zoloft about 20 weeks into my pregnancy with my second daughter by my OB. Looking back at it, I started spiraling when my first daughter was born, made some type of recovery and got worse again. She upped me to 100 mg at about 6 months post partum. I have been on that dosage since then (she is now 2 year old). She had given me permission to reduce my dosage as I saw fit, so I started breaking my meds in half about 3 months ago. I thought I was maintaining ok...

Then, there was a disciplinary meeting at work, etc. I stopped breaking my pills in the last week. Should I give the dosage time to work or try a different medication? On the Zoloft, I was just ok... Not as capable of enojying my life as I was several years ago, but not suicidal either. The suicidal thoughts haven't gotten as bad as they were when I was initially treated, but they are coming back when I am really down.
