Snuggles: I can totally identify with what you are saying! God, I have been jealous my entire life and have always kept my guys on a pretty short lease in that department. Like you, if I see my guy talking to a woman, or even looking at someone else I get hurt. Yes, I'll agree that some of it has to do with lack of self confidence and/or the fear of losing my guy to someone else, but I don't think all of it comes from that. Let's face it - we grow up in a society where alot of a woman's value (at least from the male perspective) is based upon her looks. Many men also seem to go through life with the "I can look as long as I don't touch" attitude, which makes us feel like we are never enough to keep them interested. I don't think most of us would be jealous if we knew in our hearts that our men were entirely committed to us. In other words, if I could know beyond the shadow of a doubt that my man loved me with all his heart and that no other woman (no matter how pretty) could compare with me in his eyes then I don't think I would get hurt just because he notices a pretty girl now and then. I for one, resent how society just expects us to tolerate the strip joints, porn mags and/or other things that men do because supposedly that's just the way men are. My father never treated my mother that way, and I refuse to lower my standards just because 90% of the guys out there are like that. Just my opinion.
Hey Sarah i went through a stage where i wouldnt trust my hubby to go to the corner store without thinking he was having it off with the chick there. We had countless fights over a girl he worked with even though id like to think it was totally innocent the fact that my hubby is a compulsive liar dosnt help but i agree that it stems from very low self esteem and depression combined. To get over this your b/friend will have to be extreemly patient and understanding with you and you have to try really hard to push the jealousy away for the sake of your relationship because jealousy is a relationship killer.Goodluck.Gabbi.
I need help with my jealousy, and I know it stems off from my low self esteem which comes from my depression. I hate being jealous. Its like a green monster that crawls up your back and never goes away. When I see my b/f talking to a girl or talks about a girl and not in any bad way, I get SOO mad. how can I control this or start to control it? please help!
Sarah
