How do I help??

Hi, Laurie. Welcome. Well for starters, your partner can take the free online test (see Tools at the left of the page.) The test results can be printed out for her to take to the doctor on her first visit. If she has suffered a recent loss of any kind, she is likely going through the stages of grieving, and depending on how great the impact was of the events, may perhaps find grief counselling quite helpful. If on the other hand the events were not of that nature, then being there to listen to her is important. There are some posts on negative thinking in that forum which may help you, if she is digging herself deeper and deeper into a depressive state. Reassuring her and showing her that she's loved is important. You seem to care a lot for her and it's important for her at this time, I'm certain. Hope this helps a little.

Hi everyone, I have just had the conversation with my partner about her being depressed. She is normally a bright interesting, funny woman with lots of tools (in life) and a really GREAT attitude. Several things recently have been all more than she can bear and it has led to lots and lots of tears, just general instability about how she is moment to moment and 2x now she has told me she doesn't want to be here. I have contacted out GP and she has an appointment Wednesday and I have the crisi workers phone # at the hospital (til then) What else can (should) I do? I could really use some practical stuff here. Thanks
